Exactly, which is why I don’t condemn anyone or threaten them with the specter of condemnation, simply for not agreeing with me in anything especially political views. The last thing I want is for anyone to go to Hell. I may not agree with Trump supporters, but it’s just a vote and a political party; I largely don’t know what they are going through in their part of America or understand their reasons for voting him. This is not to write it is more or less valid than my reasons for not voting for him. I respect their reasons but respectfully disagree and I hope we can all go to Heaven together and put this behind us once the world is in the past.

Be at odds with the Church, then. It really seems these “moral” complaints are trifles compared to killing, and it’s pretty clear that’s how the Church sees it.
Whatever. I don’t think I’m at odds with the Church.
And your evidence that Trump’s going to do that is what?
We’ve had this discussion many times before. I don’t think I’ll persuade you, so I’m not going to waste our time.

  • Cut funding to the only world-wide health organization during the worst pandemic since 1918.
  • Pulled out of agreements on climate change.
  • Reversed consumer protection rules.
  • Reversed environmental protection rules.
  • Promoted policies that lead to voter suppression.
  • Promoted hatred of journalists.
  • Promoted policies that resulted in permanent separation of children from their families.
  • Denied compassion for “dreamers”
  • Degraded respect of our nation among our traditional allies.
  • Promoted ideological division in our nation.
  • etc., etc. etc.
I disagree with every one of them. But people don’t dislike Trump because of those talking points, they believe those ridiculous talking points because they dislike Trump.
You have no evidence of that other than your desire that it be so. When it comes to what others think or believe, it is best to believe them rather than declare them to be irrational. But right there we have talking point #10. ("The other side cannot be reasoned with because they are irrationally consumed with hatred.)

But if you only approve of stealing diamonds, but never steal one, you’re not a thief. Again, Trump has done nothing to promote abortion regardless of the cause of the pregnancy
What is in my heart if I only approve of theft?
What is in my heart if I only approve of conditional abortion but dont get one?
So on a scale of 0-10 on being pro-life, Trump is about an 8 because he wants to stop all abortions except for cases of incest and rape, and he (I believe) supports the death penalty.

Meanwhile Biden is at zero because he wants abortion on demand up until birth.

We do not vote for perfect men. Just the least imperfect.
That scale is unacceptable because being Catholic the only scale to pass muster is 10/10 pro life.
As I keep saying these two old men are as bad as each other.

Its time to call Trump out and say no you are not pro life if your scale sits at lets rip this innocent baby out of its mothers womb and murder it because its mother was tragically and greviously attacked.

Even if what you accuse him of was true,
“If?” 🤣 🤣 🤣
how does that outweigh the evil of abortion in your mind?
I haven’t seen anybody say it does.

This has been said so many times that I have to think you’re deliberately ignoring it, but just one more time: **one ** right opinion does not mean we have to ignore – or worse, have to attempt to justify – unethical and immoral acts.

actually is about abortion
Had this country amended the Constitution when they had the will to do it in1973, elections would take on a different course of action altogether. But no, first the Evangelicals went for Carter, then Reagan and so on, always about abortion. And it’s been that way since.

Being 131st out of 140 isn’t something the #1 superpower can exactly be proud of.

So, are you saying you will only be voting for candidates who are 10/10 pro-life?

Can you name one who would be?
I am saying that scale is unacceptable because being Catholic, the only scale to pass muster is 10/10 pro life.

If we Catholics started screaming this from the rooftops ‘all baby lives matter’ I wonder how swiftly polut-itions would turn.
We need the courage to stand up and say, that is totally unacceptable unless it is 10/10 absolutely no abortion.

I don’t disagree with you (although I don’t understand your point about screaming from rooftops).

However I am not such an extremist on what is “acceptable.” If we don’t “accept” the 8/10 option, then we will get the 0/10 option. To me that is much less acceptable.

Perhaps I can make an analogy. You may think your husband is a 10/10, but in reality I’m pretty sure he isn’t. I married a smoking hot nurse who is a devout catholic, but I often describe her as “a perfectly flawed catholic” because while she is awesome, even she isn’t perfect.

Trump isn’t perfect by any means. But he is a whole lot better than the alternative. You may not WANT to accept that, but that won’t change the facts.

A temptation resisted.

Possibly some protestant evangelical sect holds this, but the Catholic Church doesn’t.
ts time to call Trump out and say no you are not pro life
It’s time to call out people who reject the prolife cause and support abortion in full by trying to convince people that only perfection in thought is sufficient even if perfection in deed is there, and even if that position is contrary to that of the Church.

Remember Luke 17:2.

Oh, where is the peace with Obama?

Fast and Furious? What about the massacre where innocent Mexicans were killed with Fast and Furious guns?

Libya? Still at war.

Syria? Threatened war if a red line crossed, did nothing. ISIS in the meantime arose.

Egypt? Muslim Brotherhood rose to power.

Honduras? Even left wing sources say the refugees to America are largely due to the actions of Obama and Clinton.

And North Korea? What do you want? Nuclear war? That’s the alternative, so that statement is totally unfounded. We should get on North Korea more about human rights, that’s true but at the same time, they are not firing missiles all the time.

Obama was given that “peace” prize really for nothing but getting elected.

And it did not embarrass the US at all.
It embarrassed Obama and should have embarrassed the whole nation.
Trump, of course, predictably became jealous,
Ludicrous. Your evidence is what?
Look at those Republicans who are against Trump.
Mostly neocons and cruise conservatives. But there aren’t all that many of them.
The rest, who pay lip service to supporting Trump are embarrassed in private conversation, but they are spineless to come clean in public.
And your evidence is what?

Your wording about “leftist elites” being against Trump is ridiculous. Look at those Republicans who are against Trump. The rest, who pay lip service to supporting Trump are embarrassed in private conversation, but they are spineless to come clean in public.
Oh sure, Romney? He has everyone’s respect. Murkowski? Might as well be a Democrat.

Obama’s nobel prize came before he did anything as president practically. Very early on and everything was disastrous practically, drone strikes killing innocents?

You really have no idea what the repercussions in that “next world” will be. You lack the qualification to be a prophet.
I don’t need to be a prophet and don’t claim to be. I only have to follow the teachings of the Church. I take it that doesn’t impress you, and it doesn’t have to.

Good to see that we are acknowledging that countries with socialized medicine that has half the cost or less than the US per capita have excellent healthcare.
That cost figure is almost never a fair comparison because other nations subsidize a lot more things than we do, like free medical education in Austria, nearly free in Germany, strong restrictions on malpractice suits in France.
But, South Korea has had very few deaths. The response of many of the countries on the list that are ahead of the US are the ones with the horrible response who wanted to go down the “herd immunity” path (UK, Sweden, Belgium) or butchered the response (Italy, Spain). The response of the federal government has been pathetic and 110,000 Americans are now dead.
There are plausible explanations why first world deaths are higher than second or third world. “Response of the federal government” is not one of them. Hating Trump is not a substitute for real knowledge.

His actions reduced our treaties to be written on wet toilet paper, and pretty much non one trusts our words any more.
If you’re talking about Iran, do you want to give them more taxpayer money? Do you want to give money to third world dictators according to the Paris Accords?

Tell us which countries don’t trust our word, and quote them. Otherwise this is just baseless detraction.

It’s obvious your own bias is your only source of information. Too bad.

And if he’s talking about Europe, for too long America has sent its soldiers to protect countries who have been dismantling their own military forces.

The other day I read where Merkle got the vapors because Trump mentioned bringing 9,000 troops home from Germany. They posture around with their leftist vanities, but when it comes to actual protection, it’s “oh, save us America!”

Well, maybe so, but one side-effect of bringing troops home is that it strengthens Putin’s hand in Russia.
