I agree. 100%. But I also believe prayers have a way of opening a person to grace. Obviously if a person is dead set against it then there’s nothing one can do, but prayers never go to waste. They simply get applied to another soul.

This is what contemplative religious and many others do. Devote their lives and prayers to honor and glorify God, repair for offenses against Him, and intercede for the salvation of other souls.

Now Jeremiah was a prophet of the Old Testament who prophesized to those who were angering God.

What did Jeremiah do.? Who was jeramiah prophesizing to?

And why?

What was the sin of Judah

And here in the Bible, a few places where the Holy Spirit tells us to trust our brothers and be trustworthy.

Christians should be people that others can trust. Such trustworthiness is empowered by the Holy Spirit at work in the believer’s life (2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 1:6; Galatians 5:13–26).

Cursed is the man who puts his trust in another man
you have truncated the word of God, here is what exactly is written
Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD.

So it’s when we trust in a man ,turning away from God that we are cursed

All these verses forbid to trust in a man, without God. They do not forbid absolutely trust in others.
So we can trust other, but we must make it IN GOD, and according to GOD.
I do not understand how nobody so far has found this manifest error of understanding the scriptures …

If thou attend wholly to thyself and to God, what thou seest abroad will affect thee but little. Where are thou when thou art absent from thyself? And when thou hast run over all things, what hath it profited thee if thou hast neglected thyself? If thou wouldst have true peace and perfect union, thou must cast all things else aside, and keep thine eyes upon thyself alone. Thou wilt make great progress if thou keep thyself free from every temporal anxiety. Thou wilt fall back exceedingly, if thou make account of anything temporal. Let there be nothing great, nothing high, nothing pleasant, nothing acceptable to thee but only God Him self, or what comes from God. Think it all vanity, whatever consolation thou mayst meet with from any creature. The soul that loveth God despiseth all things that are less than God. God only, the eternal and infinite, who filled all things, is the solace of the soul and the true joy of the heart. (Imitation of Christ, 2, 5, 2-3)

A soul needs self-knowledge to comply with the commandments to love thy neighbor as thy self. What man can indicate and explain the principles of becoming love by wisdom? No one. You touch on a deep mystery on the Gift of Knowledge by the Sevenfold gift of the Holy Spirit. The world is vain and changing. And the self that perceives it or trapped by it more so. Because all in the world is vain. Most of all we should not take ourselves seriously in the least, and the same applies to everything else less than God. Our Lady is the mirror in which we strive to see Him. O how great are the theological virtues that have their object on God, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that sustain us in God.

Just a quick question…

Do we need to do a separate thread for “Trust no Woman?”

(or not?)

Oh, stop your hissing, and go inhale some cat nip or whatever it is you black panthers use to soothe your frayed nerves. 🙂

I’d like a nice cider with brandy and catnip please!

Really, how badly could a discussion of whether men or women are more trustworthy go?

How does one 'just trust God"?
And men didn’t write it? And then, if it is God breathed, how do you know?
With men, whom God appointed through Jesus Christ His Son, we believe.
So you have to trust men who carry on everything Jesus instructed to be true.
Agrees with boygenius. One must have faith in a revelation of God to trust God. If one hasn’t received divine revelation themselves, we must trust one of those who claim they did.

Trust God and trust humans who are trustworthy.
Don’t blindly trust all people though without discrimination and don’t have too high expectations of people because humans will often let us down.
We still often need to trust some people though such as a spouse,at work,in business deal etc.

to say that one must absolutely not trust men by relying on biblical verses is absurd because the Bible itself was written by men. So the author of such an affirmation should also be wary of everything he reads in the Bible …

It’s never helpful to pick individual verses from Sacred Scripture to attempt to prove a point.

Our Christian faith is the whole faith (the kath-holos) not a collection of sayings thrown together into a book.

If we truly trust in God, then we will also trust His Church, which is how we encounter Him–exactly the way He established it to be.

How can you love your neighbour as yourself but trust none?
There are degrees of trust.

God is saying you’re cursed if you do three things:
1.put your trust in man
2.lean on mere flesh
3.turn away from Him.
I’m not cherrypicking. You’re just dancing around the clear meaning of the verse.

It doesn’t say that at all.

Real love does not like confines. Trust can bring Faith to a beautiful place. That’s been my experience with some fellow parishioners.
