Are we allowed to say negative things about House on this thread? Or is it strictly an applause thread?

Let me know. I’ll gladly abide by the rules, unlike Dr. House.
I dont know why you cant say negative things. i love the show but I wouldnt let House near anyone I loved.

He is usually correct in his diagnosis and saves the patient, though! Just don’t pay any attention to his bedside manner.

But it takes him 59 minutes and he puts his patients through hell unitl then!😃

House is the kind of doctor you want when your life is in danger, but you wouldn’t invite him over for dinner after he’d done his job.

Scout

Oh yes I would.
Kathy
Well, you could invite him, but then he’d just find some way of ridiculing you and making you look ridculous in front of everyone. Then, Wilson would spend five minutes berating him in his office about how unkind House was to you and how he needs to get a life and socialize more and learn to let people say “thank you”. All of which, of course, House would ignore and find a way to insult Wilson and tell him that Wilson is too involved with his patients. And so the circle goes 'round and 'round.

ANd what if it was just me and him?

The last time I checked, the only women he’s been with on the show were his ex-girlfriend Stacey, one date with Cameron, or the women from the escort service. You don’t qualify, do you? Oh, and there was that women from last season who was the vegan masseuse he met at the bar.

Remember, you said this was OK! 🙂

Dr. House would be fired in our hospital and in many hospitals. With all the fierce competition among the health care systems nowadays and the struggle to remain profitable, a hospital can’t allow a rude person, even a doctor, to insult patients and employees and possibly lose paying customers and patrons.

I’ve seen it happen in our hospital. Doctors who are rude to others are disciplined (days off without pay, losing privileges in the hospital, etc.), and if they don’t knock it off, they are canned. Doesn’t matter if the doctor is the best sawbones in the place. He or she is toast.

I realize that the situation might be different in a university research hospital, since they get unlimited government money (provided by taxpayers like me). However, my hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with one of the best medical schools in the U.S., and rude doctors aren’t tolerated here. (Rude employees of any rank aren’t tolerated.)

I work in a hospital lab, and almost all of our 60 or so techs can’t stand this show because it is so inaccurate about clinical laboratory science and medicine in general. I’ve only watched the show twice, and both times, within five minutes of seeing the patient and hearing the symptoms and labs, I’ve been able to correctly diagnose the problem. And I’m not a doctor.

Rude and stupid. I truly don’t see why anyone likes this guy. When I watched the show, I assumed that it would go off the air after a few episodes. I just don’t get it.

He’s not even good-looking!

I know, I know. It’s just a show. It’s just entertainment. It’s relaxing. It’s all for fun. It’s a fantasy. It’s not real.

If you know it’s not real, then why bother commenting on all the things wrong with it? I love the show, even though I know in real life this guy would be out on his rear in no time flat (not to mention the fact that the Chief of Staff would probably not be wearing so many low-cut shirts and tight skirts with 5-inch heals).

I think it’s a fun show because he says the things that many people only think and don’t actually say. Who cares if it isn’t realistic? What show on televison is? It’s entertainment. It’s there to show us a good time and not to teach us about diagnostic medicine or polite behavior in hospitals by the medical staff.

Oh, I will say that MAD TV did a great parody skit of the show, where House was seen downing large vats of pills and curing a guy by rubbing lotion on his feet! That skit was hysterical!

The trouble with a lot of medical personnel (of which I am one) is that we tend to pick apart a show. I could sit here and tell you all the things wrong with ER. I could find fault with the good Marcus Welby, MD. But who cares. All I know is if I ever have something wrong with me and no one can figure it out…puhleeze page Gregory House, MD.

IMy dad was a medic in world war II-he worked on a Hospital ship. He hated MASH. Said those drs would have been court martialed by the end of the first week, I suspect he would agree with you about House.

Awwww…will ya please stop picking on a cripple???
Kathy

I am going to go out on a limb here…I think he’s incredibly hot.

Kathy
He’s okay. I mean, he’s no grotesque. I like his voice, which is much softer and a bit higher when he speaks in his “native tongue”, but I don’t think he’s anyone I’d notice if he was just a regular guy I saw at the Mall.

Was talking with my neighbor about House recently, she’s an RN supervisor for many years in the ER & trauma center. She hates the show. Why? She tells me she has to deal with way too many doctors that have huge egos, terrible bedside manners, and couldn’t care less about putting patients thru hell - just like House. After putting in 12 hour shifts thats the last thing she wants to watch to relax - way too close to home.

Me? Can’t wait for it to start up again. Been watching reruns I missed on the DVR.
