Two women accused Herman Cain of inappropriate behavior

The left as had a whopping 3 years to build what it is you say they’ve built, not decades. And as for the conservatism of the American people, conservatives would do well to recall how they lost in 08. Health care is a good example, I think; discontent as they may be with Obama’s health care bill in particular, a line was crossed that I don’t think can be crossed back again. People won’t tolerate the Tea Partier trying to pull them back to tho pre-Obama status quo that contributed so much to the GOP’s losses. That ship has sailed. And that’s one reason why I think Romney will ultimately win the nomination.
I suggest a history class. Examine the political history since the 1900’s. Don’t think the left has pushed their agenda, particularly their social agenda since the 1960’s? Think again. I wasn’t referring to only Obama, but the left in general. Small steps. Piecemeal. “history is on our side”…

BREAKING: PJM Sources Report Details of Alleged Cain Incident

Adding to the ongoing Herman Cain sexual harassment controversy, two sources have now confirmed to PJ Media that a female employee of the National Restaurant Association told associates she had been brought by Mr. Cain to his Crystal City, Virginia residence where she alleged “he had taken advantage of me.”
One source, a male, told PJ Media:
Herman took advantage of seniority and power with a young woman. It was an abuse of power.
Implying that coming forward with the accusations was an ordeal for the young woman, the source also said:
Who do you believe, a CEO or a mid-level staffer? It was unsettling for her to make charges.
The name of the woman — who was in her early twenties at the time of the alleged incident — has been confirmed by PJ Media. We have chosen not to reveal her identity for reasons of discretion.
Both sources, one male and one female, worked at the time — mid-1990s — for the governmental affairs department of the National Restaurant Association, as did the woman.
According to both sources, Mr. Cain and the woman had been with a large group for a long evening of food and drink at the Ciao Baby Cucina, a restaurant near NRA headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. This was a normal routine, as the trade association worked with the food and beverage industry. Afterwards, Mr. Cain allegedly took the woman by taxi to his apartment, where she spent the night and woke up in his bed.
The female source told PJ Media that she witnessed the woman entering a taxi with Herman Cain.
Neither source has direct knowledge of what occurred at Mr. Cain’s residence, but several days after the alleged incident, the male source witnessed the woman returning to her workplace “distraught.” “She was very upset.”
One source told PJ Media: “Some people didn’t believe [the accuser]” at the time she made the allegation. The female source recalls the woman continued working at the NRA for several weeks after the encounter — the male source recalls the woman continued working there for a few months.
Both sources claim that during this period following the incident while the woman was still employed, the NRA’s Human Resources office held many “closed door meetings” that included her. The woman’s parents retained legal counsel and arranged an undisclosed financial settlement. The New York Times has reported that a settlement was made with a female employee that constituted $35,000, or one year’s salary.
Today, the NRA is expected to meet with attorney Joel P. Bennett, who represents one of the women who have made claims against Mr. Cain. Bennett has stated he wants the NRA to terminate a confidentiality provision which bars his client from revealing the grounds for the settlement:
[The NRA] ought to waive the confidentiality and non-disparagement provisions and let the two women, if they choose to do so, come forward and tell their stories so that it can get a complete public airing.
Mr. Cain has steadfastly denied that he harassed any female employees at the National Restaurant Association when he was president. He originally said any allegations of his harassment of women are “totally baseless and totally false.”

Apparently, according to one of Cain’s alleged accusers Herman talked about the girl’s good looks to other people.

Has the attorney got a copy of the agreement?

Has Cain unsealed his educational records?

How much did the alleged victim collect?

Apparently, according to one of Cain’s alleged accusers Herman talked about the girl’s good looks to other people.
OH MY GOD!!! He should IMMEDIATELY turn himself in to the Political Correctness Police. How dare he reference a woman’s good looks?

FYI, Pajama’s Media just “corrected” the daylights out of the copy-pasted article:
(CORRECTIONS: A previous version of this story mentioned that a source witnessed Cain and the woman entering a taxi together. This was incorrect.
The previous version also mentioned that the woman awoke in Cain’s bed — the source only claimed that the woman awoke in Cain’s apartment.
The previous version incorrectly attributed comments from one source to the other source.)

Now why would Pajama’s publish something like that before verifying, hmmm? This spreading of rumors and innuendos would really scare the daylights out of any aspiring politician who happens to be an imperfect human being…I mean it is totally ridiculous the things being spread and repeated: both in support and in criticism of Cain regarding this matter. If they really want the truth, ungag the women, let them speak and let Cain respond. All else is simply character assassination which does considerable damage to the whole concept of aspiring to public office. Shame - enough to go all round: candidates, supporters, detractors, traditional and non-traditional media…It’s a sad day when one has to censor kids’ observation of the democratic process.

Actually the stats do not back that up. The highest rate for use of the death penalty is for white on black crime. The lowest rate is for black on black crime.

Also a white person convicted of murder is twice as likely to face the death penalty as a black person and dies 17 months earlier than a black person.

prodeathpenalty.com/racism.htm

The more you know…
Ok, then, then I stand corrected, SamH. I was simply responding tothe previous poster’s inquiry as to why I mentioned Clinton’s executing more blacks during his term than any presidents since. That claim was based on the information that Ihad (and i tried to make that clear in the post and the previous one the poster was responding to. I’m not trying to get into an argument here, just responding to the questions with the knowledge I have, SamH. Unlike some here, I’m always willing to change my mind if given strong enough evidence.

Good show, then.

The more you know, indeed.

A new anonymous source comes forward — and this time, he’s on Cain’s side.
A Republican source who was at the dinner in which pollster Chris Wilson says Herman Cain sexually harassed a young staffer is contradicting the account, telling CBS News he never saw Cain sexually harass anyone that night, although he does remember Cain drinking.
“I did not see a lech,” the source said…
But the source said he “didn’t remember (Cain) doing anything” at the dinner, which he said was at a Ruth Chris’ steakhouse in Crystal City, Virginia. The source said Cain “may have been a little drunk,” but he didn’t see anything inappropriate–and added that he never heard anyone discuss anything inappropriate that may have occurred. He said about a half dozen people were there.

He’s on Hannity now.

CORRECTION:

Looks like PJ Media changed their story:

Early this morning, the citizen journalism site PJ Media had a doozy of a humdinger of a scoop. The site’s D.C. editor Richard Pollock got the main byline on a tag-teamed story based on two anonymous sources’ account of a late 1990s incident involving Herman Cain. A woman – PJM didn’t reveal the name – had some sort of encounter with her boss at the NRA.

According to both sources, Mr. Cain and the woman had been with a large group for a long evening of food and drink at the Ciao Baby Cucina, a restaurant near NRA headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. This was anormal routine, as the trade association worked with the food and beverage industry. Afterwards, Mr. Cain allegedly took the woman by taxi to his apartment, where she spent the night and woke up in his bed. The female source told PJ Media that she witnessed the woman entering a taxi with Herman Cain.
I don’t think I have to spell this out, do I? PJM had the makings of a huge story. Until they didn’t. Here’s how the killer section reads now.

What happened? Behold, the most embarassing, born-yesterday correction of November 3, 2011.

A previous version of this story mentioned that a source witnessed Cain and the woman entering a taxi together. This was incorrect. The previous version also mentioned that the woman awoke in Cain’s bed — the source only claimed that the woman awoke in Cain’s apartment. Update: A ringing endorsement of Cain from the former chairman of the board at the NRA:
“The accusations? It’s a hatchet job, in my opinion,” Fassler told TheDC from his Phoenix, Ariz. office. “My gut tells me it’s a hatchet job. He gets a lead, he gets some traction, and the next thing you know, here come these allegations. It’s sad.”…
Asked why no complaint about Herman Cain ever reached the board, Fassler put the episode in perspective, essentially seeing the amount of money involved as small-potatoes…
“At the association, people had a level of authority — an amount of money that they can spend before they have to bring it to the board [for approval],” he explained. “In this case, if it was over their authority level — and I don’t remember what that level was — they would have to bring it to the executive committee [of the board].
“If it’s a routine matter, they don’t have to bring it to us. We never got it, so it was a routine matter.”
As the DC notes, that directly contradicts Politico’s claim about “urgent discussions of the woman’s accusations at top levels of the National Restaurant Association within hours of when the incident was alleged to have occurred.” Fassler also called Cain “thoroughly professional

hat tip

Interesting. If Mr. Cain had actually been found to be on the hook for anything resembling a legitimate sexual harassment complaint his superiors (the board) would’ve been notified.

So that leaves us with several possibilities:

1.) The Executive Board of the National Restaurant Association lied

2.) The legal council / HR department of the N.R.A. pulled some sort of cover-up under the Board’s nose

3.) A 3rd party outside of the normal business process use coercion to spike the complaints

4.) The allegations didn’t have legs but Politico & Company are using the worst “journalism” tricks in the book (weasel words, anonymous sources, selective research and paraphrasing, etc.) to pull off an epic hatchet-job. Oh, and later they’ll turn around and say everyone else “just let their imaginations run wild” while they “just reported the facts.”

They need to fact check their sources before making assertions and accusations.

Are you basing you comments on Gilliam’s previous post or are you quoting another poster. As of this evening one woman was paid 35K and another was paid 45K. That is not chump change in my opinion.
Cain’s campaign manager is blaming Perry. Perry is blaming Romney. Somehow, Rahm Emmanual has also been accused. This story has more twists and turn than…(fill in the blank.
Now Mrs Cain is no longer going on Fox on Friday.
Hard to keep up without plotting out a time line.

I believe Herman Cain should bow out of the race. He is an embarrassment to the conservative movement if he paid a woman 45k in hush money after he invited her to his hotel room. I wouldn’t pay an accuser hush money if I were innocent. They would pay me, because I would sue for defamation.

The upcoming race isn’t about Cain, it is about defeating Obama.

My own extensive reading on the subject, which happens to overlap some.

Don’t conflate “anonymous sources alleged” and “X happened” or you’ll wind up just as bad as the media types. Until those claims are backed up with public evidence they remain claims from “anonymous sources.”

And actually they are chump change as far as settlements go - not enough to even justify reporting to the executive board. A damages settlement for sexual harassment runs into 6 figures easy. Bill Clinton settled privately with Paula Jones for $850,000 back in 1998 dollars.

What’s been talked about in relation to Herman Cain are figures for run-of-the-mill severance deals when a HR complaint falls through. If someone brings about a complaint and it doesn’t have legs the company has 2 choices: arrange severance for the employee to leave voluntarily or terminate the employee with prejudice and get ready to get sued for “retaliation” against a “whistle-blower.”

If you get a complaint that lacks merit but can’t be obviously proved as malicious it’s way safer and more cost-effective to just cut someone a check and a letter of recommendation so they can move on with their career somewhere else. The lawyers fees alone for fighting that in court start at around $50,000.

The mystery of “who tipped Politico to attack Cain” may wind up being a bigger story than the original allegations, assuming anyone can come up with conclusive evidence instead of assumptions and finger-pointing.

Well, fortunately for you, Herman Cain didn’t pay anyone any money. The legal and HR departments of the N.R.A. (his employer) handled the complaints and severance outside of his jurisdiction.

Unfortunately, people seem to show no reluctance to keep relaying rumor as fact and keep adding their own misinformation every time they retell the story. It just goes to show that the Church is wise in what it teaches about gossip, rumor, and scandal:
2477: Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause (someone) unjust injury. He becomes guilty:
– of rash judgment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;
– of detraction who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another’s faults and failings to persons who did not know them;
– of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them.

Cain gets more free publicity from the bankster media…
Just like McCain got a few years ago. Same old script.
These banksters really do consider us stupid.

Meanwhile the media ignores his utter failure at creating jobs. He is a proven job killer, not to mention his other documented legal indiscretions.
Of course the media is harping on his infidelity.

They want us all to consider infidelity normal, or even a positive.
Faux news is not your friend. Glenn beck is not your friend. They want your children to die in war.

Something I find quite surprising is the audacity of so-called “Catholic” persona’s who are willing to ignore Cain’s blatant refusal to put his Pro Life commitment into writing.
Only he and Romney refused to sign it. That says a lot.

Also surprising is his plans on taxing the poor to fund more foreign war.
Amazing how these persona’s who are portrayed as “Catholic” all uniformly support war mongering with the same catch phrases and empty “points” we have already heard on faux news. Almost as if they are incapable of humane thought.

This thread is pure sockpuppet propaganda theater.
