Unconditional love, hell

I think my question is, when does the cross become so heavy that even God would not want it for us? I ask for forgiveness every day, every time I pray. Sometimes, my prayers are nothing but asking for forgiveness. But I do not expect things to get better for having asked. I really don’t; it seems like a different subject completely. And I am just one teeny tiny thread away from falling irrevocably apart for the burden. I firmly believe He does not want this for me. He will make good use of this, that’s for sure. And I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit is telling me something that is SO far beyond me. I am in no way above bearing this cross. But I do feel woefully unable to bear it. And I ask forgiveness for that first and foremost…
Thanks for sharing your perspective and asking a great question.

Perhaps we are using asking forgiveness in different manners. I am using asking forgiveness in similar context to the act of repentance and reconciliation. I definitely agree in not expecting things to get better for having asked for forgiveness, however, I know to expect things to get better when having asked for forgiveness and dedicating change to greater patience, kindness, and reliance on God in heart/feelings, mind/thoughts, and strength/will.

To answer the question, here are a few perspectives to consider:
Our Lord, Jesus, showed us that the cross will be too heavy on the day that unjust public humiliation and torture, to the point of earthly death, occurs.
Given that I know many of my sufferings are completely just for the many sins I have committed throughout my life, my cross will never be heavy enough in comparison to our Lord’s. 😦
Although God does not want a cross for you, He does want you to embrace the cross as leadership for others. The path to God’s heavenly kingdom is paved by embracing the cross. My friend, I thank you for doing your best to embrace your role in God’s plan, and may your journey be as peaceful as possible.

I absolutely enjoy learning how to better embrace the cross, so if you would ever like to hear or share some ideas on how to improve our ability to embrace the cross, please ask or share!

you may be asking for forgiveness for things that are beyond your control
esp. if you are living with a medical problem and perhaps an absence of support
i have had more than my share of suffering and have met many who had to endure much more
He does not want this for any of us
He is with us every step of the way
even Jesus needed help carrying His cross, you can only do what you can
God bless you
:hmmm:

and

:thankyou: I need to ponder… Hadn’t thought of this.

I am all ears…this is one of the toughest to reconcile.
Now there’s an idea for a smilie; little head with a hand up to his really big ear, saying “eh’?”

Unemployment is devastating to the soul, even if you’re subsidized by UI benefits.
Your feelings are quite normal, I’m sure God is used to his creatures being mad at him and you’re not hurting anyone by blaming him, so go right ahead.
And another thing, why do some people get to be born rich like the Kennedys and the Bush family? So if they don’t have a job there’s no worry…they should be doing a lot of public service. You’ve got a reasonable gripe, my friend!
Thank you for being so understanding.

#33 So you say we choose hell, while God looks idly on with indifference and powerlessness.
.
Our freedom to choose only exists at all because He allows it- that’s the essence of our free will, in fact, the ability to oppose His will, including the ability to reject Him. His desire is that we gain the wisdom to choose Him, the ultimate good, over any lesser goods, because this choice is our greatest good and the source of unending happiness. Pride- an inordinate love of self-kills.
