I find it interesting that a few Bishops’ from one Committee call themselves the USCCB. All Catholic press needs to be more careful and accurate in their reporting when attributing statements to the entire USCCB.
Further there are many faithful “Catholic” Charities that Catholics can donate to, regarding our obligation to help the poor as required by Jesus, without the additional overhead costs of another bureaucracy giving to other groups - thus getting more of each dollar to the poor. Costs include but are not limited to: staffing with benefits, office space, supplies, etc.

It is very difficult to track all the secular organizations that the CCHD donates our money to for adherance to our Catholic teachings.
The CCHD has not received the return of any of our moneys given to groups that support abortion, same-sex marriage, contraception, etc.

I think Michael Voris can take a lot of credit for this one. The Bishops need to completely get rid of the CCHD. It is a travesty.

Well, let’s see the USCCB refute this detailed documentation if they can. According to some sources, a copy of this report was sent to every bishop in the U.S.

I doubt most Bishops know who Michael Voris is. His popularity consists of a pretty small group of Catholics. Voris hasn’t contributed anything positive to the Church in this nation.

Same here…we truly have an orthodox, pro-life bishop and this is the first year we’ve been told that we can use the CCHD envelope, but indicate on it we wish to directly help the poor in our own diocese so that no funds be sent to the national campaign.

Oh, trust me, They know exactly who he is. His own bishop in Detroit has basically condemned Voris, even though Voris has never in any way gone against Church teaching. Here is an interesting article about Voris when he was going to speak in Scranton, PA, and the bishop there ruled that Voris was not allowed to speak on Church property:

‘The Diocese of Scranton has determined that Mr. Voris will not be allowed to speak in a Diocesan or parish facility. After these engagements were scheduled, the Diocese became aware of concerns about this individual’s views regarding other religious groups. In videos posted on the Internet, Mr. Voris makes comments that certainly can be interpreted as being insensitive to people of other faiths. The Catholic Church teaches us to respect all people, regardless of their faith tradition. Although the Diocese shares Mr. Voris’ support of efforts to protect human life, his extreme positions on other faiths are not appropriate and therefore the Diocese cannot host him.’*

Voris has been truly outspoken when it comes to revealing how corrupt the CCHD is. A few days ago I watched a post in which Voris was speaking of this, and he said that when the collection plate comes around for the CCHD, just say no. And now the Bishops have come out with this. Somehow I think there is a connection.
I don’t know how widespread Voris’ popularity is, but you might be right. Traditional Catholics seem to love him and more liberal Catholics have no use for him, and unfortunately, the liberals in the Church outnumber traditionalists.

Voris did a whole show, I believe it’s called Social Injustice, where he shows exactly what organizations funds went to, how much they got and what they support that is opposed to Catholic Teaching.

Ridiculous comments. Voris has never been disrespectful to “people” of other religions but has pointed out the errors of other religions and the misconceptions about the Catholic Church. But that’s not popular in PC world, with it’s fear of offending someone. Unless you are attacking the Catholic Church of course.

I am sorry for hijacking the thread. I didn’t mean to do that. I just want to make one comment to this post. I don’t know if this poster meant to dispute what I wrote, but I want to let it be known that I have never heard Voris be disrespectful of people in other religions, either. I was merely citing an article in which the Bishop of Scranton was being quoted.
Now, back to our story . . .

I really don’t know what to believe on this issue but I am inclined to believe the USCCB. That said, I refuse to pass judgment on this issue until it is abundantly clear what is going on and right now, it is far from being clear to me.

The staff at CCHD doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The implementation of their funding violates their own policy. You need to read the letter signed by the moral theologian in the link above in which he investigates just 11 of these organizations and states, “In every one of these cases, the grantee has behaved in such a way that continued funding puts the Church in a position of formal cooperation (or in the apparent and proximate danger of formal cooperation) with moral evil.”
And you might want to ask yourself why a growing number of bishops refuse to allow this collection to be taken in their diocese.

Yes, I did look at it (though I didn’t read the whole thing). Did you read the article I posted a link to? I highly recommend it in the interest of gaining a complete picture. If you scroll down to the comments section, the director of ALL makes a comment and the author responds to his comment.
