What information came from the CBO?
That’s the problem with not linking borrowed information from a reputable source that assembled it. Or in the case the disreputable source that assembled it.

I would not say that “half of the catholics in America are Liberals…” I think it’s safe to say that “half of the Catholics (if not more) live in urban & suburban America.”
The difference between the two parties is really Rural America vs. Urban America. If you look at the political map by district; you will find that most urban & suburban districts vote for Dems, while rural districts vote GOP in national elections.

I’m a registered Republican in the Philly area. In local elections, I vote Republican. However, in state elections I have a tendency to vote Democrate unless the Republican is from the Philly area. Why? Because the Republicans from the rural part of the state want to cut the trains, etc. I make good money, but I must take the train to work. Traffic, gas and parking simply make the train the better option. Plus there are many other urban initatives that rural
The same thing happens with national elections. But I will vote for an urban Republican right away.
Personally, I hate when people call me a liberal, I’m a Republican for a reason. However, in state & national elections, the many times the Republican canidate doesn’t share my local interests. Then, you have Dems who many are athiests and pro-abortion. It’s a lose-lose situtation. But, if the Republicans can find a way to champion urban issues and remain pro-life, I think most Catholics would become Republicans.
Look at New York City. A Republican Mayor for 16 years, but nationally always voting for Democrates (even the registered Republicans).
Either way, both parties need to come back to the center. But if they won’t, it’s time to eliminate the two party system. Give me a party that a good, urban Catholic can vote for!

Look: If you are in favor of gay marriage, abortion, and you voted for Obama, you’re a liberal. And that describes close to half American Catholics.
You can try to spin it into other demographics, but those are the facts.
However, either way, I ask again: How long would it take before your new party was infiltrated and subverted by such people.

Despite what you think, being in favor of gay marriage or pro choice has very little to do with being liberal or a democrat. ITs conservatives who focus on those issues and thats why the Pope wants to move away from those priorities. It is also why most of America REJECTS the concept of today’s conservative cuz all they care about are guns, gays, and getting into a woman’s uterus.
This bill is just another example as how the GOP is out of touch with the needs of everyday people.

Most of the everyday people I know work for a living and don’t use food stamps. Although I guess the goal is to make more people dependent upon them. That’s why the Obama administration is paying bounties for signing more people up.

The problem is, most urban centers also have a lot of people on the dole who will vote for the one who gives them freebies. In your case, you live in Pennsylvania. Your rural people consist of many Amish and Mennonites who like to remain self sufficient and keep government out of their lives.
I think we need some kind of voter issue intelligence test before people are allowed to vote.
Perhaps we should return to the landowner system. Or maybe only taxpaying citizens should be allowed to vote.

That sounds great in theory but the problem is that healthier food costs more. You cant just eat bananas and think you’re getting all the nutrition you need. You also can’t mandate that they not buy junkfood cuz then the businesses who sell those products won’t be too none happy. I don’t know what food stamps you’ve seen but you can’t use them at casinos and you can’t use them at strip clubs. If thats the case then get on your state legislature because they can put reasonable restrictions on those types of things.

You act as if these “freebies” are some fantastic thing. They are neither “free” nor are they great things you want to live off of. They help people survive.
Yeah I’m pretty sure those are unconstitutional. Those went out with the Voting Rights Bill.

The pope didnt say to move away from those priorities. And supporting abortion and homosexual marriage has everything to do with whether one is conservative or liberal. In fact one party firmly embraces these intrinsic evils-the other categorically rejects them as long as you bought it up there is absolutely NO moral equivalency between supporting abortion and valid disputes on the best way to provide for the poor and needy. the same pope you claim wants us to move away form these issues banned politicians who supported them from receiving communion.

Thats great so do liberals. We just don’t want to people to starve in order to achieve those goals. Cutting food stamps does nothing to bring fiscal solvency to the government. All it does is it makes it harder on states and the poor. If you want to talk about balancing the budget lets talk about reform (not cut) entitlements and increasing taxes on the wealhty.
