I think the U.S should get involved. We are Christians first and foremost. I would like for my country to make it a priority to protect Syria’s Christians. Syria has many Orthodox and some Catholics…I think that is part of the motivation that is driving Russia…to protect the Christians (Russia is mostly Orthodox).

But of course my country is attacking Christians in Her own backyard in a different way (hindering businesses opposed to gay “marriage”, abortion on demand, forcing contraception coverage, eliminating the Cross/ Nativity scenes, etc., etc…)

The U.S. wants to get involved in Syria…to help the terrorists. Unbelievable!!

Bravo to Russia!
Remember Russia, who you support is supporting the Assad regime. Which sponsors terrorism. While Syria may not persecute Christians in their backyard, they fund those who do persecute Christians in other people’s backyards. Do not be fooled. Assad is not a good man and Russia is not doing a good thing supporting this massacre.

With all due respect. I have spoken with Lebanese Christians (even a Lebanese Catholic nun) and Syrian Christians who say that Hezbollah is not the terrorist…Israel is.

I suppose it is a matter of perspective and what you believe in the main stream media. 😉
Do not be fooled.
You should not be fooled.
Assad is not a good man
I never said he was a good man.
Russia is not doing a good thing supporting this massacre.
Russia is trying to prevent another country ruled by terrorists (Al-Queda).

I say…bravo Russia!👍

Haha wow…Hezbollah are the good guys?..okay I have nothing to say. Russia is not doing anything noble, they are just propping up a dictaitor friendly to Russia’s interests.

Don’t kid yourself, Russia is only serving themselves. They could care less about Syrains. As for this, the US is doing nothing and we’re still getting the blame? The only nation I see getting involved with Syria is Russia who has been selling war choppers to the Syrian gov’t to use against their own people.
They can be both sane and serve themselves at the same time. It’s just that the US can’t manage to do either one.

And the US helping al-Qaeda in Syria helps who?
I’d like to not be involved when two great evils are fighting each other. The US is not getting involved and should remain so.
The US is already there.

I told you I heard directly from the Christians who live in these places that Hezbollah helps them…and Israel hurts them.
Ad hominem attacks are not helping you.
Of course they are…especially when I see pictures like this:

I removed the “anti-Semite” post before this post and I ask that you edit yours. I also ask that you do not PM me if I am unable to reply to your PM.

Russia is trying to prevent another country ruled by terrorists (Al-Queda).
So if your name is not Al-Queda, you can terrorize innocents, murder children and keep a whole nation under the boot of your domination…just as long as the Christians are protected? Tell me, how would that make you better than Al-Queda doing the same things in the name of protecting Islam?

Alot of people have died in Syria because they were trying to violently overthrow the government. That is typically what happens in a revolution. Does anyone believe, large numbers of people wouldn’t die if thousands of armed people attempted to topple the government of the US, UK, Turkey, etc ?
Do you mean, say…about a 18 mths ago when kids were marching in the streets with placards? Not sure about the rest of the world, but I’m pretty sure large numbers of placard-armed toddlers would not incite a military response from Washington D.C…
I don’t see where Bashar Al-Assad has been such an evil ruler.
Did he order an immediate investigation of the circumstances under which that young boy’s mangled, cigarette-butt scarred body complete with genital mutilation, was returned from authorities to his parents? I don’t seem to remember him even acknowledging such a atrocity but as sure as that boy’s blood has cried out to God for vengeance, Assad will be receiving his comeuppance pretty soon. Just give his advisors and abettors are few more months to gain some semblance of a conscience…
No, Syria hasn’t been a democratic country, but if that’s justification for a violent uprising, then we better support similar actions all around the world wherever they don’t have free elections. Assad until recently has done a good job of protecting Christians, Shias, Alawites, and Jews. And despite his being a staunch opponent of the State of Israel, he has invited Syrian Jews to return.
Tell me, when he had his goons pick up kids to use as object lessons for their parents, did he ask their religion first, and free the Shia, Alawite and Jewish kids? That has to be the reason some people can find a spark of the not-so-terrible leader in him.

Around half the elected Christian members of Lebanon’s parliament are in an alliance with Hezbollah. Maronite Catholic Patriarch Beshara Al-Rahi has come out in support of Hezbollah’s right to remain armed, so long as Israel occupies any part of Lebanon’s territory. A wealthy Maronite woman recently told me, that you will find Lebanese Christians who despise Hezbollah, and others who strongly sympathize with them. Christians in places like Lebanon and Syria seldom hold the Evangelical Protestant like attitudes towards Israel, that many American Catholics have sadly adopted.

Do you have proof that the Syria government is killing innocent civilians and children?..or perhaps it is the terrorists who are killing them? My friends from Syria tell me that the terrorists are famous for setting up snipers and killing children in the streets…and then blaming it on government forces to gain international sympathy. They also tell me that the people of Syria overwhelmingly support Assad. They say that we are being fed propoganda that we believe in all naivete. 🤷
Tell me, how would that make you better than Al-Queda doing the same things in the name of protecting Islam?
But I believe it IS Al -Queda (or like-minded terrorists) doing most of the killing of innocents in Syria.

Exactly!

Why is it sad that American Catholics support Israel? and why is it an Evangelical Protestant thing to support Israel?

No, I don’t have proof. Then again, neither do you.

This could be very easily settled: why doesn’t Assad let the free press in to see for itself and show us? From the beginning (before the shelling and heavy fighting) he has refused to let the press in. So the question is, what does he have to hide? Let the press record what they see: who is killing people and then shooting up the makeshift hospitals that try to help them.

Let’s face it: Christians in the Middle East, like those anywhere in the world, take political positions that they feel advance their interests. If it means supporting Assad, supporting or denouncing Israel, supporting or denouncing Hezbollah…I’m sure you can find factions of Christians in all of those positions. Which is why it seems patently ridiculous to me to take a stand for or against Assad based on his relation to Christians.

In every situation, there is right, wrong and shades of grey; where local Christians stand on political issues may or may not be related to what is the morally right and just position to take. Are we forgetting that there have been Christians on both sides of just about every major world conflict in recent history?

So then you would rather see an Al-Queda run Syria with Sharia law and all the Catholic/Orthodox Churches and monasteries destroyed and the Christians murdered?
We can play this both ways if you want.

So you’re ok with the government sponsoring terrorist groups that murder Christians and Jews alike in Lebanon and Israel?

Completely agree seekerz. There were Christians who supported the Franco, Hitler, Pavelić, and Mussolini regimes. I personally don’t blame the Syrain Christians for supporting Assad, if it means their protection and safety; but for an outsider to take a position based on relationships with a particular minority is ridiculous to me as well.
