Andrew Sullivan at the “Daily Beast”, Chris Matthews on PBS, Bill Maher, who recently donated a million dollars to Barack’s campaign, Michael Moore, James Carville, why is the liberal media viciously backstabbing President Barack Obama over one (1) debate? Not only that, they are lavishing praise on Mitt Romney, as with Chris Matthews, formerly a tingly-legged supporter of Barack looking like a Mitt syncophant with, “Mr. Romney, I thought your performance last night was masterful, if not brilliant.” Maybe this isn’t a debate question, maybe this is a backstabber question. What factors predisposed gung-ho supporters to use this one (1) debate as an excuse for the “Night of the Long Knives”?
Al Gore suggests that Barack had altitude sickness, a real possibility given the tendency for Africans to have a range of anemias, with the mile-high thin oxygen in Denver possibly starving already depleted red blood cells. Are these wealthy pundits getting allergic to the idea of ponying up if the Democrats win and the Bush tax cuts are not extended? I noticed Barack supporter Barbara Streisand dropped off the Democrat radar after the “tax the rich” rhetoric got heated. After kicking Romney to the curb, why is the liberal media now throwing Barack under the bus? Jim Lehrer, the senior statesman at PBS, was excoriated for his alleged Mitt-friendly moderating. Lehrer makes a million dollar annual salary at PBS. Is Barack’s “tax the rich” policy dividing the limousine liberals? The only ones not to pile on are Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart–although Stewart is actually having knife problems, getting sued over her bogus cutlery…

By time the next debate rolls around, the liberal media will be fully supportive of their darling Barack Obama. He is liberal, diverse, and Democratic. The liberal mainstream media will be on board the Obama Campaign Train within days. Just watch.

I know you are distressed with Big Bird being thrown out of the nest.
By my calculations Big Bird is over 18 years old.
He has received, from his adoptive parents ( US Taxpayers ), ALL the tools, in fact, more tools then the average teen, to be successful out in the free market - of real American society.
Indeed, he will not be thrown out on his ear, as he benefits handsomely now from corporate sponsorship and retail sales.
As he is geared to an age restricted clientèle ( 3-4 years of viewing ), might I suggest, if this is so distressing and the most important message you took out of the Presidential debates, you could, with your wealth, privately sponsor 10 years of reruns.
Thank you for your concerns of, what you feel, are most pressing issues debated.

My impression listening to him was, “please… We know what your plan is.”
The is the first time that he has said, as far as I know, that he would not have any tax cuts which would increase deficit spending. Common sense and history show this to be an unlikely claim.his explanation of how it would work showed the claim to be disingenuous. We know from recent history that tax cuts are not offset in total revenue by increased economic activity. It’s a false premise.
His first order of business will be to cut taxes. He will claim that this will boost the economy so much that it will result in a net tax revenue increase. Then he will be unable to cut spending, as usual. And there we will be, with worse deficits than ever.
I think Mr. Romney is smart enough to know better. But he is repeating the party line which has failed with two presidents now. As they say, insanity is repeating the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result.
To my knowledge, this is the first time he has voiced the plan to keep the existing Medicare benefits in place along side a voucher system. I question his sincerity on that. I suspect he was only saying it because of the backlash from seniors and those who are not rich, yet have elderly relatives and friends.
I have only managed to get through the first hour of the debate. I had to turn it off after the first 20 minutes. Then went back to listen to as much as I could stomach.
The biggest problem for me is that NEITHER of them seem to have a clue that the world economy and labor markets have fundamentally changed due to technology. They are harping on taxation policy and entitlement programs, as if doing something in that area will make a bit of difference. It won’t. Both of their stated platforms are useless, in my opinion, to address our long term economic issues.

In America, one of the biggest risk factors for health problems in the poor is obesity. This is a far cry from other countries where the poor are undernourished or even starving. In addition, the average household which is classified as poor in America has a color TV and almost 70% of the time they own 2, they own at least one car, and a cell phone. Again, this is a stark difference from what poor is in other countries.

Please don’t get me wrong. We need to help those who need it. We need to see Christ in them. However, we also need to be honest. My wife is from Brasil. When people talk about the poor in the news or comments are made by political candidates, she laughs. According to her, America is the only country where the poor drive to pick up their unemployment check in their own car, and while waiting in line, check facebook on their iPhone. Having been overseas extensively myself, I am inclined to say her basic point is sound.

Only 0.4% of households in America report not having enough food to eat. Obviously, we need to consider the homeless, etc. but this is not nearly the problem that some would make it out to be.

OPIUM is addictive as in OPM…other people’s money. The Left always seems to want to use this drug to keep its self feeding programs moving. So much easier to play Lord or Lady Bountiful if you don’t have to actually dig into your own pocket.
Apparently the marketing of stuff from Sesame Street which has been around how many years…40 or something like that, makes gazillions. This product/concept could easily finds sponsors. Other Leftist ideas like the funding of questionable art are similar. There is no role IMO for government in funding artists or art. Funding museums via tax deductions for charities, OK that’s fine because it’s our own money we are using. But dont’ take MY tax dollars to put a Crucifix in urine or spread dung on the Mother of God.
Maybe someone on the Left can tell me why the Federal Government should support an adult cartoon character or the P*** Christ.

Sad but true. Read The Economist and see how much of the world lives. While we clearly have poor in this country the difference between our poor and those of Subsaharan Africa or Afghanistan, Haiti or NoKo for that matter is that our poor are not victims of natural disasters (droughts, earthquakes) or tin pot dictators, but are generally there due to lifestyle choices. Sadly too these choices have become generational and ingrained. I suspect many poor in this country do not understand how their choices and their parents’ choices have put them in their situation.
Our system of simply handing the poor money obviously doesn’t work and has added to the problem by fostering this attitude of helplessness and dependence, which soon becomes entitlement. Trust me, I’ve even seen this in my own family as well as in volunteering for various social services and charities serving the poor.
But as several have pointed out, when you compare the poor in this country to those in other countries, it can be almost laughable. I had personal contact with many of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. They told me how much of those people live, truly without sufficient food, clothing or medical care. Our charity did a Christmas box drive for kids in Afghanistan and they were thrilled with a pair of sox or a tee shirt.
What’s the answer? I think the only thing that might work is tough love so to speak but no way we have politicians brave enough to suggest such a thing.
