But Rich, Savage is SO entertaining. Definitely has a gift. I listened to him for years, and I know plenty of liberals who listened to him avidly due to his entertainment value. 👍

Talk radio is not one of my “guilty pleasures.” Pornography is - “food magazine pornography” to be specific. Ah, all those great photographs of beautifully prepared and presented dishes in Gourmet, Fine Cooking, Food and Wine and the like. 😃

Come on Rich…you are smarter than setting up a strawman and then lighting a match. Have you seen one single person express anything but a slight uptick in optimism? Has one person written off Obama? We all know he’s absolutely ruthless when faced with opposition. Just ask the men who ran against him! Can’t run on your accomplishments, make sure the opponent’s SEALED divorce records somehow become made public. I wouldn’t put one thing past Obama and the Chicago Machine.

I certainly feel better after the debate because even those uninterested souls who didn’t bother to watch have been treated to a hashing and rehashing of the event for the past week. Read Andrew Sullivan’s editorial…the Obama debacle is even making its way into the leftist websites and blogs. So it would be difficult to avoid hearing how Obama flopped like a dead fish on wet sand.

At any rate don’t pretend we’re all measuring for the new drapes. We’re just happy to have a…as Obama says “a fair shot” at the Presidency.

Unlike Wright’s church, the U.S. Senate keeps a record of who was there on a given day. The Congressional Record for May 24, 2007, shows Sen. Barack Obama present that day and voting on the bill that waived the Stafford Act requirement. Moreover, he was one of just 14 Senators who voted against — repeat, AGAINST — the legislation which included the waiver.

If you know any true believers in Obama, show them the transcript of his June 5, 2007, speech at Hampton University (available from the Federal News Service) and then show them page S6823 of the Congressional Record for May 24, 2007, which lists which Senators voted which way on the waiver of the Stafford Act requirement for New Orleans.

Of course the Left is pooh-poohing this as “old news.” But it is totally relevant to the topic of the debate. Obama lies without any problem whatsoever. Yet his only defense against the drubbing by Romney is “Romney lied.” Except he didn’t.

Plouffe/Axelrod are now saying that the formerly “wooden, plastic, and boring Romney” has turned in a performance worthy of Lawrence Olivier! Yet crickets chirp when we see time after time, Obama using different accents, different gestures and different approach depending on his audience.

When will they figure out you can’t have it both ways?

The thing about that video – he accuses the Federal government for something he voted against giving.
Here’s what he said: June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia
“Down in New Orleans, where they still have not rebuilt twenty months later,” he begins, “there’s a law, federal law — when you get reconstruction money from the federal government — called the Stafford Act. And basically it says, when you get federal money, you gotta give a ten percent match. The local government’s gotta come up with ten percent. Every ten dollars the federal government comes up with, local government’s gotta give a dollar.”

No it’s not old news. The sad thing is the way he wanted to stir up racial animosity. He basically told the people in the audience “The government hates you. They don’t want to help you because you are black.”

The irony of this whole scene is almost shocking. I remember when David Geffen threw in his Hollywierd lot with Obama…because he thought the Clintons were basically dishonest ("All politicians lie, but they (Clintons) do it with such ease, it’s disturbing)

We have seen in the last three years that Obama just makes things up as he goes along. Being in healthcare I was disgusted with the way he claimed doctors would cut off a diabetic patient’s leg because he could “make $30000.” It was not only totally untrue, the claim that a doctor would cut off a patient’s leg unnecessarily was simply outrageous. The long list of lies is literally stunning.

Aside from the idea that he apparently thinks it’s OK to lie to people, the theory that he could do so without getting caught is the height of arrogance. I think it’s the same arrogance that made them think they could hide the Ben Ghazi situation until after the election.

His theme is “Clarity over agreement.” He wants both sides to simply understand the other’s perspective, not necessarily agree with it.

If you look at ANY study, survey, article or book, academia is far more represented by Leftist ideas, Leftist politics, and Leftist writing, particularly in the soft “sciences” such as PoliSci, Sociology, Psychology. In fact professors who maintain a different viewpoint don’t get hired or don’t get tenure. Anyone who speaks against the Leftist party line is hung out to dry. Remember the Larry Summers episode where he simply reported the truth, that there are more men in areas such as math, science (hard not fluffy), computers and was immediately tossed out of Harvard. How dare the man suggest that men and women were different? (ask any five year old and they can explain)

I grew up with college prof parents. I’ve seen the Ivory Tower close up and personal. I do not know of a single prof who was conservative although perhaps in business they might be seen now and then. I was a business major and for the most part the profs didn’t mention politics. OTOH when I went back into the Masters of Public Administration classes I was treated to tirades about President Bush, the Iraq War etc. So I suggest if you see diversity among the faculty, it’s not in Liberal Arts or the squish “sciences.”

Leftism has become the religion of many. Sadly I have to say you see this among a lot of what I call cultural Jews. They identify far more with Leftist ideas than the Torah.

I’ve listened to Dennis Prager speak several times but haven’t read any of his books. I don’t accuse him of being disrespectful to those who disagree with his political views. I guess my main quibble with Prager is that he puts most liberals into a single box, as other conservatives tend to do, and as liberals do as well with regard to conservatives. Maybe it’s the liberal part of me, or maybe the cognitive psychologist in me, but I don’t much care for rigid categorizations on any level, whether political, religious, or in other domains.

I agree with you, Lisa, that there is a liberal bias in academic studies and in faculty hiring in many universities. Of course, Harvard is a notably liberal institution but there are several others. I can speak only from my own experience with fellow faculty with whom I have had lively debates concerning politics.

With respect to religion, I have a couple of friends who are cultural Jews and, at the same time, are rather politically conservative, as well as a couple of cultural (not even “cafeteria”) Catholic friends who likewise lean toward the conservative side of the political spectrum. That’s part of why I don’t like to put people into categories. And BTW, leftist ideas are not contrary to the teachings of the Torah; in fact, they are consonant with Torah.

BTW I don’t think Romney made ridiculous promises, nor did he say wave a magic wand. He has a clear business approach to the economy. It’s not brain surgery. The uncertainty, the large and meddlesome legislation, the attack on below ground energy, the threats of tax increases, all serve to paralyze the economy.

We need a problem solver, and Obama is an idealogue. That’s why it is so difficult for him to defend his record because much of what he’s done makes no sense at all…unless you are of the same ideology. He’s been living in the echo chamber of Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, and Michelle. He simply can’t believe people have different ideas…and when faced with Romney’s counterpoint he was without a comeback.

It reminds me of the story of some NYC liberal who was astonished that Nixon won…“Nobody I know voted for him!”

I agree that Obama is an ideologue and Romney is a pragmatist. But I think Ryan is also an ideologue, innovative and potentially dangerous.

In what way? I feel like I know him better than most since he was so often on the Bill Bennett show. He’s very wonky, very numbers oriented. I don’t see an idealogue but maybe I am missing something.

The funny thing is that by CONTINUING to bring this up, time after time Obama and his supporters are helping Romney and hurting themselves. Instead of excuse making Obama could have said that he hadn’t prepared properly and was sorry he let everyone down. He would then promise to “hit the books” and do better next time. So instead of taking responsibility and moving on, he sounds like a whiney little kid who believes if he keeps beating a dead horse it will come back to life.
