I just found out about Wambach being a lesbian. That’s disappointing and the kiss was a bit much. Oh, well. It’s Alex Morgan I like, anyways.

I bowed out of this discussion long ago when it was clear that it was being dominated by ridiculous claims. But this! Oh, my. This is hysterical. I’ve lived here for over a decade and most of my friends have lived here their entire lives. NEVER have I heard this area referred to as such. What a bizarre and baseless dig.
And of course, a bishop doesn’t have sole control over a Catholic school’s curriculum. But why deal with such pesky truths, eh?

I bowed out of this discussion long ago when it was clear that it was being dominated by ridiculous claims. But this! Oh, my. This is hysterical. What I would find peculiar would be the folks who, on the one hand say, “What people do in the private lives is none of our business. Sports Person A is awesome at playing Sport B, so who cares about the private life of Person A?”…I think the discussion is bigger than that.

Um, I think I have a little more history than you, as we have family that has lived there for decades, and some their whole lives. Do some research about Geneseo and you will find my knowledge is not baseless. They had an early hand in determining the course of the gay rights movement.

I am also not talking about Clark’s governance in regards to schools, but he was big into ordination of women, communal absolution during penance services, etc. Read a site called Cleansing Fire. Anybody who denies the damage he did to that diocese has their head in the sand.

I will say that we have been considering getting a cat, and naming it Tabby Wambach. But I do think this would probably mean not naming a cat after her even though she’s a great player.

I have nothing against Abby or Meagan or the coach. But, many players have just gone really overboard with the celebration of being a lesbian. Heck, these two players don’t even look feminine. My apologies, but it is just not my taste.
I am more aghast that Hope Solo was allowed to play given her checkered past.

First, Cleansing Fire is way over the edge – it’s for traditional Catholics and took any and every possible opportunity to slam Bishop Clark and the DOR, even when doing so was an absolute stretch. Nice source. Second, claiming that Bishop Clark was “big into ordination of women” is slanderous at best. He cut off the area’s infamous break-away “Catholic” church that did in fact allow women to celebrate the Mass. Communal absolution (something that was very popular in many dioceses at one time) was also done away with during Clark’s tenure. Your now-dead relatives aside, you might want to do your own research here.

My research is done. And very thoroughly at that. You may have to do a bit more. My final say…why did +Clark allow an organization known as Fortunate Families as the official gay ministry for the DOR? Also, why didn’t he use Courage, the official Catholic apostolate?
It’s pretty bad when even Pope Benedict knew about the scandals in Rochester. The day +Clark retired, Pope Benedict accepted his retirement the day he turned 75.
Also, the Geneseo reference was in reference to the history of the gay civil rights movement. You are conflating two things.
Did you know that Bishop Clark the celebrant at a gay affirming mass? I know because people I know attended.
Ok, I need to be charitable. I am praying for the souls of my now deceased (non-biological) relatives, hoping God showed mercy on their souls.
I apologize if I offended you in any way. My non-biological relatives were not very kind people, so I am glad my ties with the Rochester area are severed forever.

Yes, I do keep an eye out for anyone in leadership positions in the Catholic Church that try to change Church teaching and poison the well.
