Let’s hope that in a decade or so, our faithful religious Congregations and Orders will be overflowing will young novices.
Looking at some local orders age is accomplishing much. Some are growing; others are looking at the Religious Retirement Fund. 👍

this is long over due. I am afraid we are going to see some rough times. Dissenting Nuns, dissenting Priests and liberal laity are going to fight tooth and nail against these attempts to restore the Faith. There may be a falling away in the short term, but the Church as a whole needs this. If we were to continue on the current path, the western Church would fall away from the True Faith within a decade. This will be a “Wheat from the Chaff” moment. Personal liberties do not trump Church teaching and due to the weak Catechesis many have received over the last 40 or so years, this will be painful as some have to decide on who they will follow.

Anyone worried that the bishops might be motivated by something sinister here need only read the book “Ungodly Rage” published in 1991 to see the sort of flat out anti-catholic poison that the bishops are trying to weed out from the ranks of the religious. Those problems weren’t new in 1991 when the book came out, so you can hardly call this reaction by the bishops hasty or knee jerk. This has been a LONG time developing.

That book still gives me nightmares. I grew up with wonderful religious sisters. There was never any question that they were going to tell it like it is and stand by Church teaching. Is any of them held heterodox views, they certainly didn’t let anyone know. What a shocking change in only about 20 years. So sad.

Long overdue. Dissent in the Church needs to be squashed. Either follow the Catholic Teachings in the Catechism or get lost. It has to be this way. The liberal takeover of Vatican II is the cause of all this. I hope and pray the SSPX reconciles with the Church because that is the place I just might go. I’m sick and tired of modern style Masses. Sneakers, jeans, shorts, guitars, no incense.

With all due respect, modern style masses are not dissent from the Magisterium. You realize that 700 years ago there were monks complaining about the new fangled organ and how it changed the the way they celebrated the Mass. 😉

I for one am absolutely thrilled by this move:thumbsup: - traditional orders are thriving, and this is just another nail in the coffin of modernistic, “spirit of Vatican II”, new age soaked goofiness…thank God.
The Catholic Church, she is timeless. This whole modernism thing has gone on far too long.

I was going to say that this wasn’t a witch hunt, but a serious effort. Then I realized that in some rare cases, it might actually BE a witch hunt! LOL.

I get it.

As a former Chicagoa, I recognize and applaud
your kinky, sardonic Chicagoan sense of humor!

I see your point. However, this modern day music would scare them to death! What would they say about the cloths people wear to Mass? Some people look like they just walked off the basketball court or a street corner in a seedy part of town! It’s disgusting.

According to the Catholic News Agency article, Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has been assessing the U.S.'s Leadership Conference of Women Religious for several years. These are some of the findings:

*Attempts to justify dissent with “scant regard for the role of the Magisterium.”
*Moving beyond the Church. Even moving beyond Jesus.
*Radical feminist themes which are incompatible with the Catholic faith.
*Suggested dissent from Church teaching on human sexuality.
*Remained silent on the right to life (conception to natural death).

According to the LCWR’s website, the presidency of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious was stunned by the conclusions of the assessment. The website says there are 1500 members, who represent more than 80 percent of the 57,000 women religious in the United States.

As a conservative Anglo Catholic in the Anglican Communion, I understand the seriousness of departure from orthodoxy and the agony that can bring. We are dealing with similar issues as those noted above. So, I am lifting up prayers for my Catholic brothers and sisters.

Peace and blessings to all,
Anna

Wow… I had no idea the situation was like that with U.S. nuns…Well, I guess it shouldn’t surprise anyone. Good for the Vatican.

Absolutely wonderful news! Now pray that the thousands these nuns have led astray be led back to the truth.
