At our cathedral, we had about four former altar servers who are know in the seminary. My dad’s former parish has one and another parish as one more. My parochial vicar was an altar server and felt the calling rather young. That logic doesn’t necessarily work, though. Just because vocations to the female religious life haven’t increase, does not mean that female altar servers stop it. Stopping vocations and increasing vocations are two different things.
However, I have never seen (maybe someone can provide them) hard statistics showing that being a male altar server increases vocations.
Insofar as female altar servers and the convent are concerned, the girls, at least the ones down here, are rarely recruited as possible vocations. In fact, they are not even recruited at all.
