He isn’t proposing a 2 trillion dollar increases. They are simply not going to decrease it the way that Obama is planning to. **This is what Obama keeps doing. They take something that they are planning to increase and then whey Romney does not plan to increase it, they call it a cut. Then, they take something that they are planning to decrease, and when Romeny does not plan to decrease it, the call it an increase. **

Its a lie, and they know it is a lie, and you are falling for it.

Excellent point, jwinch. The Obama campaign offers lies and expects Americans to fall for them. The most recent lie has been Obama’s explanation of the attack on US embassy in LIbya. Blatant lies of scandalous proportions. Ryan should have pushed on that more forcefully.

I agree. Ryan was ineffective in really driving home all the failures of Obama’s presidency. He could have been much more forceful. Of course, when you’re being interrupted all the time, it makes it hard.

Ishii
He also had to be sure not to come off as arrogant or disrespectful to the elder “statesman”

Incorrect. Romney’s stated policy is to set military spending at a minimum of 4% of GDP. Thats $2 trillion over the next ten years.

A plan requires details; what they have are policy statements. When you’re promising the moon you’d better have some meat and potatoes to go with all of the fluff you’re peddling otherwise you’ll find yourself as a lame duck president waiting for a deeply partisan Congress to do something other than bicker and throw legislation around out of spite. I for one don’t want to see anyone in the White House who doesn’t have a clue on how to accomplish anything that he’s promised.
Obama has been in the White House for 4 years. His “plan” is not working. In fact, he really has no plan.

What loopholes will account for the $2 trillion increase in military spending Romney is promising?
First, Romney said he would not cut the military the $2 trillion that Obama is doing. So if you insist on saying that Romney is raising military spending by $2trillion, than you must admit that Obama is cutting military spending by $2trillion.

Second, the democrats keep saying Romney does not pay enough in taxes. So let’s say it’s the loopholes that allow Romney to pay less in taxes than the democrats say he should.

Obama did and does have a plan. He’s proactively engaged with Congress with numerous specific proposals on how to accomplish his goals.

He also had to be sure not to come off as arrogant or disrespectful to the elder “statesman”
That’s true - had to walk the tightrope. Considering Biden’s rude antics - interrupting all the time, Paul Ryan did pretty well.

No, what Romney said is that he would make military spending a minimum of 4% of GDP which translates into $2 trillion over the next ten years.

:rotfl:

Is that why Obama’s budget got no votes from Democrat or Republicans?

Is that why Obama got NO votes from Republicans on Obamacare? Obama has no use for bipartisanship - he rammed Obamacare through congress. Romney has a proven record of “proactively engaging” with his legislature in Mass. NIce try though, EmperorNapolean.

I have no problem with any politician’s rude antics, but agree that Ryan did pretty well and held his own, if barely.

I must have missed it. He couldn’t even garner ONE Democrat vote - House 414-0 Senate 99-0 defeat

He rules by Executive Fiat!

No, what Romney said is that he would make military spending a minimum of 4% of GDP which translates into $2 trillion over the next ten years.
But he would only be elected for 4 years. So why do you calculate it for 10? To get those numbers to line up with what Biden said?

AND had to lie to the Stupik 12 in order to pass Obamacare

Whether or not anyone voted on it is irrelevant. He had a plan with specific details that was presented to Congress. Ryan/Romney have nothing. Do you honestly believe that the Congress is going to hold hands, sing kumbaya, and dance on Romney’s puppet strings if he is elected?
Romney has a proven record of “proactively engaging” with his legislature in Mass.
That was before he tried to portray himself as a far-right hardliner.
But he would only be elected for 4 years. So why do you calculate it for 10? To get those numbers to line up with what Biden said?
No, to make a valid comparison between the expenditures and the 10 year budget proposal from the Romney/Ryan ticket. The Ryan budget proposal only allows for $700 billion in spending increases over a period of ten years if it would ever result in deficit reduction.
