CNN Poll on debate winner: Ryan 48%, Biden 44%
Within the margin of error essentially putting this where every other poll puts it; a dead heat. For the Obama campaign this doesn’t really matter but its an important and possibly worrying indicator for the Romney campaign. Ryan isn’t making the independents swoon as much as they had banked on.

Chris Wallace is a respected and fair newsman. Its not like this is coming from a blatantly partisan Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. Maybe not a big deal, but David Gergen - the Dems favorite go -to guy for anti-Republican commentary, thought Ryan looked more presidential than Biden.

I don’t doubt that, but I hadn’t heard anything about Ryan and Biden running for President. I thought they were competing for the Vice-Presidency. If so, it’s only Gergen’s personal opnion. 🤷

Who won the debate?
Personally I think Ryan held his own and Biden lost it with his pompous and rude antics, not to mention he appeared just as angry when questioned on his record as president Obama was. Not a good thing in a close race.

Biden needed a decisive win after Obama’s disaster, he did not get it, most of the polls and focus groups are showing tie or Ryan with a lead. That tells me think people think Ryan is acceptable as vice presidential nominee and do not believe the extremist meme the democrats have targeted him with, that is a win for Romney/Ryan, not for Obama/Biden

Hope to see the Bishops speak out about this debate, because millions of people watched and may think it is acceptable for Catholics to have divergient views on abortion
Indeed!

I will eagerly await Fr. Barron’s (name removed by moderator)ut on this because I feel that he will have something to vlog about, on this matter.

I’ll keep my eye out for it, on his Youtube channel.

I would hope that the man who is a heart beat away would be presidential. Biden wasn’t, Ryan was.

I beg to differ. In debates like this, if the “challenger” (Ryan) holds his own (which he clearly did) then he has done his job.

It’s the presidential debates that really matter.

I agree that it was fairly even, but I disagree that Biden needed a big win. Biden needed to stop the bleeding and change the narrative from now until the next debate. I think he did that to some extent. Even if Biden lost, people will be talking about how Biden acted and not how Obama got his clock cleaned for the next week.

That’s how I see it anyway.

All Biden needed was to keep people engaged with the Democratic point of view and keep independents from swinging over to the Romney/Ryan ticket. He achieved both.

Its not a win for anyone. The independents haven’t gone anywhere.

One other thing. Does he think that the children who are the victims of rape, incest do not resemble beans like his daughter?
Not at all what was said. Two choices, Obama and Romney, which is a giant step in the right direction? Answer that and you know where to place your vote if life is important to you.

Spin. Biden needed to reverse Romney’s momentum with his debate performance. He didn’t do that at all. Therefore- loss for Obama/Biden.

Obama did and does have a plan. He’s proactively engaged with Congress with numerous specific proposals on how to accomplish his goals.
And what are his goals? do they relate to their platform? do they support liberty and justice for all?

We need a vision with goals, strategies and tactics. We haven’t had a unifying vision since WW2 unless you count landing on the moon (a great science project) or Sept 11 (an act of war), which was definitely unifying… but for what good… fear, pain, revenge.

People joke and say “what, are we going to solve world hunger?” I’d say, sure, why not. We could if we wanted too. And that 's just the beginning.

What’s our vision, to get to zero growth rates in the west… and then what…

Ryan won in my opinion. But what’s his vision… a return to Mayberry… (Andy, Barney, Opie…) Not gonna happen. Can’t happen… Shouldn’t happen…

I see a reduction in momentum given the fact that there wasn’t any following this debate. The independents are still on the fence.

People are talking about, including liberals on CNN and elsewhere, about Biden’s grinning, interrupting, condescending remarks which is overriding talk of policy. Ryan won by not losing this debate. Nothing big will change from last week

Somebody said Biden did not make the bleeding worse but he did not stop it from Romney/Obama debate
