There are many who would disagree with you on both points.
Yes, but I would suggest that those are partisan opinions. I stand by my comments above as being of the majority opinion.

Fr Zuhlsdorf on Joe Biden’s view of abortion
Biden says he is “personally opposed” to abortion but won’t impose his views on others. Uh huh. That’s the old Kennedy-Cuomo pro-abortion catholic dodge. When you spin that out to others issues the position is exposed as a fraud. “I’m personally opposed to someone knocking you out, cutting you open, and selling your kidneys on the black market, but I don’t want to impose my views on others.” “I’m personally opposed to putting 68 year-olds with Crohn’s Disease to death because they will drain system under Obamatax, but I don’t want to impose my views.” “I’m personally opposed to rape, but I won’t vote for any law against it. That would mean imposing my views on people who think rape is okay.”
Can. 915!

Brilliant! 👍
Bigger conundrum.

Biden doesn’t want to impose his morals on abortion…but has not problem imposing his morals on taxpayers funding abortion. I clearly don’t have the intelligence to be able to engage in the sort of double-think that is required to be a Democrat politician.

Yup 👍

And I love that Biden was using the Senate courtesy rules (which is the reason everyone thinks he was being rude) because that demonstrated that he really is a political figure and knows his way around congress.
Yikes! If that was “senate courtesy” one can hardly wonder, then, why the senate has been moribund these last three+ years. They all hate each other and think it’s normal to be that way!

On page one of that tutorial it begins with turning the ten commandments inside out. :hmmm::ehh::dts::blushing:

You are right though, of the never ending list of things that CAN be imposed upon people, “morals” tops the list of what didn’t make it. The NAME of that “impose” list is “Yes We Can”.

Nicely crafted last sentence Scott. 👍

A friend passed this comment on to me concerning Biden’s behavior during the debate. I don’t know if this has already been posted:

“When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, the foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.” Proverbs 29:9

I have heard from the left many times that Ryan did well enough–and if the left can admit that, then Ryan did his job. Biden did well simply because he made no huge mistakes, as so many assumed he would. I do think laughing during foreign policy discussions is a huge mark against Biden’s overall appearance. Most people know that foreign policy today is no laughing matter.

I will put it this way: if Biden had remained cordial and respectful while he was not speaking, he would have been the clear winner. Yet, his personal demeanor and his constant interruptions brought his overall performance down–which allowed the debate to be closer to a tie.
I agree. I first listened for about 30 minutes in the car on my way home from work. Without seeing his crazy facial expressions, I thought he was very strong in his responses, but the interruptions and laughing were offputting. It was even worse with video.

Had he toned down the expressions and interruptions, Biden would have clearly won…regardless of facts.

Appropo!😉

I was impressed with Biden’s handling of the questions tonight’ he had the answers and a viable plan. Ryan on the other hand appeared to be evasive on many of the issues and i think for some independent voters this hurt him.

Biden won this one hands down.

Was this debate a game of 45 questions in 90 minutes? It seemed that just when the debate started going good on both side Martha Radditz would cut the subject short and switch gears to an unrelated subject. It seemed like she just wanted to get all of her questions in regardless…

It was also my impression that Biden won it hands down…until I started hearing people who were put off by what they perceived as his leering rudeness. Some people, it appears, really don’t appreciate the traits Biden demonstrated. Having once been a Democrat activist myself; a “true believer” at the time, I’ll admit I might have become unable to readily see why people find it offputting, sort of like the way a sewer worker of many years no longer experiences the odor in the same way others do.

The American public likes class. Biden does even know what it is.
