So, the primary function of the general government is to protect individual rights and the American people. If China and others won’t abide by treaties, then actions like tariffs may be needed.

Fact: the CDC does not make the claim that masks will prevent the spread of the virus.
Fact: the CDC does indeed, now, recommend people wear masks as a possible mitigation.
Opinion: I agree with the CDC on this point. Erring on the side of caution is a good thing.
If cloth or paper masks were a proven and sufficient preventive of the spread, hospitals would use them and social distancing would not be required.

Not true. Hospitals have the highest inherent risk, and therefore justify the most effective PPE. Lesser masks are not as effective, but they are effective to a significant degree - so much so that if everyone wore them we could reduce the R0 of this virus to less than 1.0 and it would die out. A mask does not have to be 100% effective to be effective.
“ most effective PPE.”. That means paper And cloth masks are not, and the CDC is correct in not claiming they are.
If they are snd the CDC is wrong, social distancing is redundant . Either cloth masks work or their level of effectiveness is limited. The CDC recognized this. The science is there.

Yes, it is unfortunate that Steve Bannon is associated with her effort.
I’m definitely not ruling out a human manufacture of the virus, though. The evidence that the first pandemic in 100 years originated in the city with a huge virology lab is too much to overlook. However, I think an intentional release is simply ridiculous; an accidental release is much more likely.
