TrustInTheLord:
Hello fellow Brothers and Sisters,

I am new at posting, so please bear with me. I just wanted to know if anyone here really love God like we all say we do. šŸ˜ƒ

If this is true how do you love God? Just a question. šŸ‘
I would say that no one loves God as they should, otherwise they would never sin. They may be honest though and realize they are not perfect yet. There are people who have great humility and have been brought into a great relationship with Christ that they can truely love God.

You love God by doing His will and by not sinning. I constantly sin though so I canā€™t claim to love God perfectly.

Catholic or Protestant, love should be our common denominator. Love is something we must never forget when we teach about Jesus Christ. The one thing that can unite us as brothers and sisters is the love that Jesus talked about. That means love God and love one anotherā€¦ including people who hate you! The latter is so difficult but thatā€™s what we are to do as Christians. Just like the ā€œOur Fatherā€ prayer, ā€œThy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.ā€ We all know thereā€™s only love in the kingdom of Heaven. So, letā€™s all follow Jesus and ā€œWalk in Loveā€ while weā€™re here on earth.

Jesus says in John 15:9-17

9 As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Fatherā€™s commandments and remain in his love.
11"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
12 This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down oneā€™s life for oneā€™s friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.
15 I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
16 It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
17 This I command you: love one another.
One of the simplest commandments - yet one of the hardest to keep!

Yes, to love God and one another is not only the simplest but the greatest commandment. I personally believe, that on judgement day, God will judge us by how loving we are whether we are Catholic or Protestant.

Iā€™ve come to realize that itā€™s all about love. Jesus wants us all to be loving people in everything we think, feel, say, & do towards God and one another. Regardless of your interpretation of the Scriptures, love is the one thing that cannot be misinterpreted.

I can answer thisā€¦I know which is Godā€™s true Churchā€¦The one that can trace itā€™s heritige all the way back to Jesus and the Apostlesā€¦the Universal Churchā€¦The Catholic Church! TrustInTheLord, you never really knew your faith if you walked away from it for a less complete faith. There is biblical or historical evidence for everything we do and believe.
We all agree that Godā€™s true church is comprised of people who will go and have gone to Heaven. So, who will go to Heaven? I donā€™t think anyone knows for sure except God. Otherwise, why would there be a judgement day? Iā€™m convinced that only God knows the true church. Maybe thatā€™s the way He intended it so that we can have free will to choose? Heā€™s the only one who knows what is in our hearts. We all know there are bad eggs on both sides. But thatā€™s none of our concern. God will judgeā€¦ not us. People who love God and love one another have a very good chance on judgement day. When I hear people tell me to come back home to the church, I think about Heaven. Because only then will I know the true church.

So, if I follow your line of logic, either
  1. the Catholic Church is the correct Church,
    or
  2. nobody had any church to chose from until at least the 1500ā€™s???
Interesting choice. Iā€™ll take door number 1, Monty!!!

TrustInTheLord:
I just found out that the 10 commandments had been changed,
Which commandments do you believe have been changed and from what do you believe they have been changed?
i found out about Protestant teaching
What did you find out about Protestant teaching? Can you be as specific as possible? Iā€™m trying to understanding where youā€™re coming from?

Thanks!!

If you follow my line of logic both 1 & 2 are irrelevant.
  1. The true church is made up of only those people who are going and have gone to Heaven.
  2. Only God knows whoā€™s going to Heaven.
  3. Therefore, only God knows who belongs to the true church.
  4. So, love God above all and love me as Jesus loves you.
  5. To walk in love or hate is a choice you make. I believe the choice you make determines whether you go to Heaven or hell. 6. Arguing over who is right or wrong is pointless.

So why does God wait til the 1500ā€™s to change some of his doctrines, in your opinion? Wasnā€™t the reformation originally just about ending the corrupt practice of selling indulgences?

But I thought Jesus built a Church on this Earth. And I thought this Church would have sinners and saints in it according to Jesus.

Who were the 7 letters written to in Revelations, The Church in Smyrna, etc. Your points from 3-6 sound like the arguments from someone who doesnā€™t have a leg to stand on (or maybe a pew to kneel on? Sorry, itā€™s bad pun week for me!).

Iā€™m not sure how to answer you because that doesnā€™t matter to me. Even if I knew the answer to your questions, what good would it do me? In my opinion, itā€™s basically a history lesson if youā€™d like to share with me your thoughts on the matter.

What I think heā€™s trying to explain to you is:
A) Jesus built a Church
B) He left behind some people with Authority to Teach.
C) People, such as Paul, chastised and corrected the Churches to insure that everyone was teaching the same thing.

This is what happened for 1500 years, and then some people started making up rules as they went along. Itā€™s kind of important to remember that.

We all know Jesus built His church on earth. We all know He built it with love. Isnā€™t it safe to assume that anyone whoā€™s heart is filled with love for God and one another is also part of that church?

Anyone who is baptized with water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is part of that Church. If you fill that bill, then we teach that you are part of the Catholic Church!

I respect and understand your faith. In fact, many of my friends and most of my family are Catholic. I too was a Catholic for 36 years. Although we have a few differences, my love for God and His children has not changed. We are still brothers in Christ. God Bless in Jesus Name

Itā€™s not having a heart full of love for God and one another that incorperates one into the body of Christ. According to Godā€™s word itā€™s baptism (1 Cor. 12:13). Even so, Godā€™s Church contains ā€œsound doctrineā€. Anyone who strays from that sound doctrine (whether knowingly or unknowlingly) strays from the Church and therefore from Christ because the Church is his Body. If one ceases to accept the doctrine of the Church, but rather embraces doctrine contrary to it, one is in not fully in the Church but in some way separated from it.

What about these?

Jhn 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Jhn 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Jhn 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
1Th 4:9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that ye] love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1Jo 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1Jo 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jo 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1Jo 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
2Jo 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Hi Nancy, I understand that the RCC teaches that water baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit includes you in the church. So that means there are only Catholics in Heaven. Will I be denied entry into the kingdom of Heaven because my interpretation of Scripture is different than yours?

My personal belief is that ALL those who come to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, & strength including one another as Jesus commanded is the church. A church/body completely built with love and not one part of the body going to hell. That is the church I strive to belong to every day. I will try to ā€œwalk in loveā€ every single day of my life until judgement day.

Your brother in Christ

Hey fellow Canuk

How about also;

Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.

and of course 1st Corinthians;

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not love . . . . .

. . . . . .And now abides faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
