…and we still haven’t answered the question of whether John McCain was pro-life or pro-choice. 😎

John McCain was pro-life.
he was in public
I am proud of my pro-life record in public life, and I will continue to maintain it.
but in a gop debate, he showed a different personal view.
KEYES [to McCain]: What you would say if your daughter was ever in a position where she might need an abortion? You answered [earlier today] that the choice would be up to her and then that you’d have a family conference. That displayed a profound lack of understanding of the basic issue of principle involved in abortion. After all, if your daughter said she was contemplating killing her grandmother for the inheritance, you wouldn’t say, “Let’s have a family conference.” You’d look at her and say “Just Say No,“ because that is morally wrong. It is God’s choice that that child is in the womb. And for us to usurp that choice in contradiction of our declaration of principles is just as wrong.
unfortunately, you never knew how john would vote. his campaigning language wasn’t always followed through on.
Is hoping the media will “demonize” John McCain part of those “high standards” of yours you mentioned?

Don’t you think that’s more than just a little uncharitable?
what the media does is no reflection on me. though, they are predictable

Interesting. You apply your “high standards” to John McCain but not to the media.

Do you have any idea what that law did the cost of insurance? I’m lucky I didn’t have to lay people off. The cost of my plan tripled. I went from covering 75% of my employees insurance cost to 45% over 3 years because of how much premiums kept jumping. I had to push off pay raises, stifle growth, and not give any over time in order to offset the cost of insurance. You should actually learn what that law did vs what it wanted to do before you chastise anyone.

My guess is “no, he’s not”. I know that he officially said he was Pro-Life, but if you look at his record, you’ll see something different. He voted against repealing the anti-life ACA providing the crucial vote to continue this atrocity. I suppose you could attribute McCain’s vote to his undying hatred of President Trump, but nonetheless he did do it.

The 2nd piece of evidence was the statement he had his daughter make the other day at his funeral. That America “was already and always great” under President Obama. That tells me two things. One he was please with President’s Obama principled anti-life stand. And two, he was pleased he didn’t win and get pushed into implementing the Republican’s pro-life agenda.

That’s just the most glaring flaw. His history as a senator is not a good one. Again, I applaud his military service. But that was a small part of his lifetime career. I’ve got a marine cousin with a Bronze star for valor and 2 Purple Hearts who robbed our grandmothers house as she laid dying in her bedroom, his military service doesn’t excuse his behavior either.

Tell us more about your Marine brother who was a robber. The Old Colonel is intrigued. Did he get his Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts before or after the robbery?

Robbery was after his service. This was a cousin, not brother.

At least he wasn’t your brother. What happened after the robbery? Did he ever face justice for robbing his own grandmother?

He pawned most of her jewelry before it was known to be missing, he admitted to it to his mother, she wouldn’t press charges, our grandmother had already passed and the prosecutor wouldn’t file charges because anything from the rest of us was hearsay. But he was picked up later on unrelated drug and theft charges. Last I heard he was in jail.

That sounds like a very disturbing situation for your family. Maybe he is experiencing post-service issues like PTSD. Have you considered reaching out to him and offering support? Perhaps, when he’s out of jail you could offer him a job within your business. Some hard work might turn his whole life around.

John McCain is dead and I myself prefer to just pray for his soul and not concern myself with what he did in life.

I am finding it kind of amusing that the same people I know who didn’t have one single good word to say about him as Presidential candidate (and accused anyone who voted for him of being a racist) are now putting him on a pedestal because he was anti-Trump.

Sarah Palin wasnt on his invite list.
I know she was very opposed to abortion - of any kind.
