I don’t understand - - were there people new to Australia there at the ceremony?

If all this welcoming must be done I can see perhaps doing it outside, but not in the church, during the Mass.

Wouldn’t it be more normal for the bishop to welcome people into the Church, rather than the tribal people welcoming the people into a church?

Does the aboriginal gentleman do this at every Mass? Every church service in the area? At every mosque?! 🤣 🤣 🤣

You dont think you own the land though, any more then you think Aboriginal people are wrong.
What is the word used in the Old Testament when God told Adam he would be caretaker of the land?

Being owned by the land does not mean what you are implying in the Western sense. After all you are going back to dust, after being made from dust.

If you care to listen to what the aboriginal elder says. I am sure its not what you are implying, and infact stated differently.

My question is “are they invoking land and water spirits or thinking in animistic terms?”

This land ownership thing seems completely unimportant. My concern, if I were to have any concerns, is whether any type of spirit or spirits or mind is being attributed to the land or features of the land.

You cannot show proof unless you absolutely understand what exactly is going on. Then you would have to fall back on the same position as the Vatican over cultures other then your own.

You dont own creation do you? You care take. Watch that word, might be best to go back to its original translation.

What would happen if the animals’ spirits were not invoked?

Would he have been validly ordained?

Would the animal spirits harm him or the Church in some way?

Are the animal spirits pacified at every Mass in Australia? Every church service / every mosque in Australia? Do the animals’ spirits get angry if they are not?

In what parallel Catholic Church does any of this make sense? 🤣

My knowledge of the problem goes back to the last 20 minutes, but catholic common sense tells me:

nothing truer than the documents of the Holy See, yes!

but do they apply to the present case?

Who is asked to determine if they apply?

The diocesan bishop, of course, or, if he wants to intervene, the Holy See, but with a specific document.

That is: a document concerning those specific events, in Australia, in the course of religious and civil ceremonies (the solutions could be distinguished).

What will the religious authority say?

I have no idea, but what he says we will accept (I hope so).

It appears that a Roman Catholic bishop in good standing disagrees with you?
During the Mass, Bishop Mascord of Wollongong invited Butler to join him in purifying the congregation.

Do you believe that this bishop will be kicked out as Martin Luther was kicked out?

This is just insidious.
These insidious rituals are not happening in the Orthodox Church.
Congrats. I guess the Orthodox are not bending over backwards in an attempt to seem inclusive, etc.

Including those Orthodox churches which are in communion with Rome 😉

Pray for the Catholic Church. We need it.

Indeed we are not. We’ve been using the same liturgy every Sunday for 1,600 years.

😬 Unfortunately, the Ukrainian Catholics in Europe are getting a little kooky.
They celebrate Divine Liturgy, then they dance Disco - before the Holy Altar!
