"We can't take this anymore", Holy Redeemer Parishoners want Rome to clean up the Church

rchbishop George Niederauer will preside and give the homily at the 10 a.m. Mass at Most Holy Redeemer parish in San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 7 – the same day the parish will have a booth at the homosexual Castro Street Fair. The archbishop’s visit comes just a week after the parish held a drag show to benefit AIDS victims, despite requests that the archdiocese cancel the event.

“Twelve famed drag queens. One pageant. BLOOD!” read an advertisement for the “unveiling of the 2008 Desperate Diva calendar,” held Sept. 29 at Most Holy Redeemer. The parish is well known as being “gay-friendly.” In September 2006, the “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” the “leading-edge order of queer nuns,” whose official slogan is “go forth and sin some more,” held a bingo fundraiser at the parish’s Ellard Hall. Another bingo fundraiser was scheduled for early November of 2006, but on Oct. 31, the archdiocese canceled the event and the groups’ lease on the hall.

proof positive of the american church sad state. i think this bishop is trying to not rock the boat. he wants to be everyone’s friend at the expense of the truth. the bottom line is if you speak the truth, people will attack you as they did Jesus and the apostles.
 
Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll say the Mass using the Extraordinary Form 🙂
 
When I read about churches like that, my soul aches. I like to read these two letters from St. Basil for consolation. They show that things have been in a terrible state before, churches being “schools of impiety” with all sorts of blasphemies and sacrileges and we have overcome them. It takes patience, faith, and a lot of prayers and penance.

I think the Pope needs a summer home in Connecticut and a winter home in San Francisco.
 
Note that Nancy Peolosi is one of his parishioners. He hasn’t had time to review her position on abortion yet. Also note that he succeeds Bishop Levada who is now in charge of defending the Faith for the whole Church. 😦

The Pope has the primary job of defending the faith for the whole Church. That being said, the CDF has produced some good things under Cardinal Levada’s leadership. 👍

This isn’t the only parish around which is considered “gay friendly.” There are many, particularly in heavily populated gay areas, which exist.

They need to be ministered, also. So it isn’t a bad thing that the bishop is coming.

More interesting to me is the new book by Fr. Donal on the parish.

The problem here is the sick don’t believe they’re sick, and the doctor(s) refuse to tell them they’re sick. The doctors also refuse to offer the medicine or to give the prognosis of the disease.
 
First - Fr. Steve Meriwether (pastor of Most Holy Redeemer (MHR) parish and at the time, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of San Francisco)and Archbishop Niederauer (San Francisco) allowed this spectacle at MHR parish.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are known WORLD wide - their motto is, “Go and sin some more”. They participate in the Gay pride parades (that Most Holy Redeemer Parish also participates in) on a regular basis -

As a group, they need to be excommunicated because they publicly profess teachings that are contrary to the teachings of the Church. THEY and their organization STAND FOR SIN and profess that stance publicly.

They must be excommunicated publicly because of the public scandal they promote and profess. And if they continue to present themselves to receive the Blessed Sacrament, they must be refused.

We need a public statement from Archbishop Niederauer

that this group and the individual members of this group are excommincated and as such, MAY NOT RECEIVE THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST.

So sad to say that this has become a scandel because of the silence of the men whose vocation it is to defend the Church. But the evidence is beyond dispute.

Our bishops, as a group, must do something to protect the Church and the Blessed Sacrament from this continued sacrilege. And we, the laity MUST call them to this.

And pray for their souls.

You know something - you really do have a point. Sometimes I feel like the Pope is just totally out of touch with the evil that lives in the Church in America, and that if he truly experienced it for himself he would (hopefully) clean house in a massive way.

At least I would hope that would be the case. 🤷

San Francisco, Oct 10, 2007 / 02:09 pm (CNA).- The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of men mockingly dressed as religious sisters, received Holy Communion from the Archbishop of San Francisco last Sunday.
The “sisters”, dressed in costume and white facial paint, and with names such as “Sister Porn Again” and “Sister Roz Erection,” were given the Eucharist by Archbishop George Niederauer at the Most Holy Redeemer parish in San Francisco.
California Catholic Daily reports that the parish and its pastor, Father Stephen Meriwether, have been sympathetic to the predominately homosexual population of the Castro district in San Francisco where it is located.

Whether they were men, or used such decadent names, I think it was inappropriate. But then, if we are going to ignore people that regularly come to mass dressed immodestly on the regular, how would we react if they had denied them communion?

I think they should have, but I believe that there would have been a lot more outcry if they had not.

My objection is to their attire, not their lifestyle… although I ain’t happy with that, either.
