She was a fine woman blessed by God, you ask if I believe she the mother of Jesus? that would be in the affirmative 👍

Mary (mother of Jesus)

Hebrew: Miriam.

Mary was the wife of Joseph and the mother of Jesus Christ, who was conceived within her by the Holy Spirit when she was a virgin. She is often called the “Virgin Mary,” though never in Scripture are those two words put together as a proper name (Matt. 2:11; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:27; Acts 1:14).

Little is known of her personal history. Her genealogy is given in Luke 3 (see below). She was of the tribe of Judah and the lineage of David (Psalm 132:11; Luke 1:32). She was connected by marriage with Elisabeth, who was of the lineage of Aaron (Luke 1:36

While she resided at Nazareth with her parents, before she became the wife of Joseph, the angel Gabriel announced to her that she was to be the mother of the promised Messiah (Luke 1:35). After this she went to visit her cousin Elisabeth, who was living with her husband Zacharias (probably at Juttah, Josh. 15:55; 21:16, in the neighborhood of Maon), at a considerable distance, about 100 miles, from Nazareth. Immediately on entering the house she was saluted by Elisabeth as the mother of her Lord, and then immediately gave her hymn of thanksgiving (Luke 1:46-56; compare 1 Sam. 2:1-10). After three months Mary returned to Nazareth to her own home.

Joseph was supernaturally made aware (Matt. 1:18-25) of her condition, and took her to his own home. Soon after this the decree of Augustus (Luke 2:1) required that they should proceed to Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), some 80 or 90 miles from Nazareth; and while they were there they found shelter in the inn or khan provided for strangers (Luke 2:6,7). But as the inn was crowded, Mary had to retire to a place among the cattle, and there she brought forth her son, who was called Jesus (Matt. 1:21), because he was to save his people from their sins.

This was followed by the presentation in the temple, the flight into Egypt, and their return in the following year and residence at Nazareth (Matt. 2). There for thirty years Mary, the wife of Joseph the carpenter, resides, filling her own humble sphere, and pondering over the strange things that had happened to her. During these years only one event in the history of Jesus is recorded, viz., his going up to Jerusalem when twelve years of age, and his being found among the doctors in the temple (Luke 2:41-52). Probably also during this period Joseph died, for he is not again mentioned.

After the commencement of our Lord’s public ministry little notice is taken of Mary. She was present at the marriage in Cana. A year and a half after this we find her at Capernaum (Matt. 12:46,48,49), where Christ uttered the memorable words, “Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!” The next time we find her is at the cross along with her sister Mary, and Mary Magdalene, and Salome, and other women (John 19:26). From that hour John took her to his own abode. She was with the little company in the upper room after the Ascension (Acts 1:14). From this time she wholly disappears from public notice. The time and manner of her death are unknown.

I can give you the definition for ammunition if you’d like, I use it every day, we live in a real world spiritual warfare is real thus a good soldier puts on his armor, as per instructions in the word of God.

Is Jesus God? Do you need words to understand what it means for Mary to be the Mother of God? Because, Jesus is God in the flesh. If you need words to describe what it means for Mary to be the Mother of God then you are living in the flesh and not the Spirit. It was not flesh that joined with Mary, It was Spirit. If you only look with the flesh you will gloss over the Conception of Jesus in the womb of His Mother. Remember Paul saying that when he implied it was he that went to the 3rd heaven he learned things that could not be put into words? If you only gloss over Mary’s union with the Holy Spirit that reveals how you interpret scripture through words and not spirit. I am telling you this not to win any spiritual warfare. I am telling you this because you have a passion for Truth.
Your definition of spiritual warfare is different than mine although we read the same passages.

“We Must Affirm that the Papacy is the Anti-Christ”

Lets get serious about this mans post shall we, without him here we’ll have to use rule of thumb, my thumb my rules.👍

#1. percentage of Protestants that believe he is?
#2. percentage of Muslims that believe he is?
#3. percentage of Atheists that believe he is?
#4. percentage of Catholic Priests that say he is?
#5. percentage of Nuns that say he is?
#6. percentage of Catholic lay people that say he is?

Perhaps a poll?
Perhaps the OP? he must have had his reasons for believing the way he did, otherwise why the post 🤷
You forgot one:

#7. percentage of Anti-Christs that say he is?

I don’t need an Encyclopedia for your answer, Jesus is the result of the Holy Spirit and Mary conceiving him, basic bible study.

I’ve known him since 1972 June 10th. 12:15 PM. Do you know when you were born again? 😃

It is the position of confessional Lutheranism, based on our confessional documents.
Sorry, but I didn’t believe you, so I researched it myself. You are correct, it is indeed a Lutheran teaching and I find that very surprising. Do people actually believe that?

This explains everything “Outer Darkness” :tsktsk:
no wonder you don’t know you never were

Who, in this thread, actually thinks the pope is the antichrist?
As a Lutheran, I believe that there are some (not all or even most) teachings in the papacy that are not-of-Christ - better said, heterodox. But then, Catholics would say that about some Lutheran teachings.
I do not believe that Pope Benedict is the anti-christ.

It wasn’t John Paul II that is unless he comes back to life

Yes: two millennia ago. (Although, on a more personal level, you could also say I was born again when I was baptized.)

Ha! good luck getting someone here to step up and answer that.
Mr. Obrien Sheesh!
Including you, I see.

Look, the pope is not the antichrist. Thats just plain silly. Luther was nuts, with all kinds of emotional issues. And Calvin? He basically taught that God chooses to send people to hell. Very nice.

1 John 2:22: “Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.”

If you can find me a pope who “denies the Father and the Son”, then we’ll talk. Until then, there are plenty of Mullahs who fit the bill beter than the pope.

Now your being coy, so on a more personal level a person isn’t born again when he/she is baptized as an infant, or were you referring to some other time 🤷

An excellent answer!!👍

And, to address the topic of this thread, I do not believe that the Pope is the antiChrist. While I have a few doctrinal (or, is it dogmatic) disagreements with Catholicism, I cannot dismiss as the antiChrist anyone who truly confesses the three ecumenical creeds.

Very nice, but Satan can cop to that as well, he knows what Anti-Christ really means. “Three Creeds” he can quote that backwards and forward.

Question? why are we doing this dance around the May pole, more members getting involved but not really answering the post.

Since all translation of Greek is exactly that, a translation, not a word for word dictation, one always translates the meaning of the Greek, not word for word. Justified by faith apart from works/Justified apart from everything but faith/Justified by faith alone. All convey the meaning of the Greek.

Luther was not the first commentator or translator to use “alone” in Rom. 3:28. Add Augustine and Chrysostom to that list.
To clarify Augustine did not support faith alone. Luther had to state that he did not find in Augustine justification by faith alone, that principle of Protestantism. Luther is quoted as stating “Augustine has often erred, he is not to be trusted. Although good and holy, he was yet lacking in true faith as well as the other Fathers.”

No matter how we spin it, James says “faith without works is dead”. Clearly a dead faith is still a faith, as a dead body is still a body. Clearly dead faith does not save…how can Lutherans deny that there are conditions which prevent faith from being salvific!?
We are not in disagreement in this. For example, here is Article Thirteen of Luther’s Smalcald Articles:
XIII. How One is Justified before God, and of Good Works.
1] What I have hitherto and constantly taught concerning this I know not how to change in the least, namely, that by faith, as St. Peter says, we acquire a new and clean heart, and God will and does account us entirely righteous and holy for the sake of Christ, our Mediator. And although sin in the flesh has not yet been altogether removed or become dead, yet He will not punish or remember it.
2] And such faith, renewal, and forgiveness of sins is followed by good works. And what there is still sinful or imperfect also in them shall not be accounted as sin or defect, even [and that, too] for Christ’s sake; but the entire man, both as to his person and his works, is to be called and to be righteous and holy from pure grace and mercy, shed upon us [unfolded] and spread over us in Christ. 3] Therefore we cannot boast of many merits and works, if they are viewed apart from grace and mercy, but as it is written, 1 Cor. 1, 31: He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord, namely, that he has a gracious God. For thus all is well. 4] We say, besides, that if good works do not follow, faith is false and not true.

Same old hatred and lie of the evil one against The Father, anyone who represents The Fatherly Love , wisdom and role and all whom The Father loves !

It knows that time is running out - in a world that has been consecrated to The Woman , the enemy of the lier , by the one person with the God given lead and authority to do so, and in union with all who share in that family role ; thus she in turn , in and through The Church, to bring in the reign and control of the Holy Spirit , into more lives !

May prayers of Pope John Paul 11, all Holy Fathers , of St.Ignatius and all who support The Fatherly role and lead be with us all !

May His Mercy bring repentance to those who bring on the slavery of lies and errors and divisions by taking on the role of that one ancestor who mocked his father !

Peace !

Jesus said call no man father no if’s and’s or but’s to do so is to tread on thin ice, be careful how you address your reply son. 😉
