Let’s all apply! I will drive the Ford F-150 and bring the tools. @Beryllos can wear his wig and Hawaiian shirt! 😂

With the ad blocker I have, this is typically what I see:
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I occasionally get an ad for a convenience store close to me or something small. I never get wig ads, though! I need a wig! I look like this 😐 most of the time.

Wait! Just caught one! It’s for an ice-cream place kind of near me. This is the largest the ads for me get…

That’s the size I get them too, and I don’t even notice them anymore.

I can see why. Perhaps they should look to see what kind of ads will be displayed prior to launching ads to avoid people receiving ads like this one.

Plus, sometimes it’s just a matter of certain ads being promoted and ignoring any algorithmic information…they’re just hoping to get lucky! 🤣
and the algorithms can make odd links from correlations that no human would find sane.

The first article I recall was twenty some-odd years ago, i think, by someone baffled that amazon had decided that he was a pregnant gay man . . .
So Hawaiian shirts, webinar software, and farm tractor navigation it is!
wait . . . no oscilloscopes???
I just got an ad for an engineering degree at Anglia Ruskin University.
does anyone else remember the spam for degrees from “prestigious unaccredited universities”?
Currently, I’ve got an ad for a self storage facility.
ahh,. [nods sagely]

You’re setting up to be a hermit!

 😆 🤣

Why would that be baffling? I’m sure it must be common somewhere…oh, wait! Was it targeting him for baby items or gay items? I’d think the computer could explode over the dilemma!

Thank you for making me snort out loud and get funny looks from my family…you’d think they’d be used to me by now! 😂😂🤣❤️

Oh my…that’s just too funny! Thank goodness we haven’t let computers take over the world yet! 😂😱😂

if this is how they understand reproduction, i’m not sure we’re at any risk . . .

Sorry. My omission. I would love to have an oscilloscope at home, and I could pore over oscilloscope ads all day.

The last time I used one for the home, it was to diagnose and fix a problem with the “oil primary” (motor control and fire safety device) on my heating system.

A great illustration of Murphy’s Law: When the ambient temperature drops, the SCR that turns on the motor needs more (name removed by moderator)ut current. It worked great all summer and fall, but when the basement got a little cooler in the winter, the motor wouldn’t start and the primary locked out, and it has to be manually reset. No motor, no heat, just when you need it the most.

I dropped the SCR (name removed by moderator)ut resistance and all was well. I found out later that there was a product recall due to this defect, but by that time, I was all set.

🤓

Sorry, everyone. Every now and then, Doc and I have to show off how technologically awesome we are.

I just pulled this ad:

I am of the firm belief that if you can breathe comfortably all day, your mask is not blocking enough particulates. One of the best masks out there is a hospital-grade N-95 mask. I am not sure if anyone has ever tried one, but it is difficult to breathe through because of the amount of particulates blocked. THAT’S what I want in my mask - something that blocks a lot of particulates, not something that is comfortable allowing me to breathe all day.

I’m wary of being too comfortable anyway. I see my mask as the 21st century hair shirt. The more uncomfortable the better 😒 😷

I’ve always thought, shouldn’t they call it self-service storage? You’re not supposed to store yourself there — although I don’t doubt that a few customers do!

Just what I need! A cheap mask with bling.
