Is that the one by Irshad Manji? It was an interesting book.She obviously wants reform, but I didn’t get the sense that she knows what she’d like Islam to be once it’s reformed.

Just reading The Bread Bible, Leisure: The Basis of Culture and Fifth Business. All good.

I just finished the the Autobiography of Archbishop Fulton Sheen (what a guy, I wish I could’ve seen his show) and am now reading Be Cool by Elmore Leonard. I have to mix my beneficial reading with my popcorn books! 🙂

aurora, EWTN airs the show. I’m not sure of the times, but their web site should show the listing. And I can’t remember the name of the show now. :confused:

Talk about showing ones age…I watched the originals as a very young child… 😛 No, really I was little. In fact, he scared the heart out of me. I thought he looked like a mean vampire, except for the fact he was wearing that big cross. :rolleyes: I enjoy the show in reruns, though. Now if only I could remember the name…

If you watch, or anyone who has seen the show…doesn’t he look sort of like what the '50’s movies made a vampire look like with those piercing eyes of his? I know he’d probably laugh if he could hear me. 😃

I’m reading Bendict XVI’s encyclical - good stuff!
Also reading (I normally have five or six books on the go at any one time!): Purpose Driven Youth Ministry by Doug Fields, Seeking Spirituality by Ron Rolheiser, a collection of James K. Baxter’s poems and a book on playwriting by Roger Hall.
Also a book on how to play the harmonica that me old dad give me for Christmas.

Thanks for the info! I don’t get EWTN (when we have to change TV providers again we’re going with someone who has it!) , but I have a friend who does, maybe she can tape it for me. Treasures in Clay had lots of pictures of him and I can see what you’re saying–those dark, piercing eyes. He looked really intense in these pictures.
 
I’m on page 242 of Chesterton’s “The Everlasting Man.” Next up is John Keel’s “Our Haunted Planet”
 
I just started the Davinci Hoax. Very good reading. I’ve got a stack of Scott Hahn books up next. That and the new Dean Koontz–Forever Odd. I just loved Odd Thomas and I’m excited there’s a new book with him in it.
 
My next one is Hans Urs von Balthasar’s Prayer. Here’s how it starts:

“Most Christians are convinced that prayer is more than the outward performance of an obligation, in which we tell God things he already knows. It is more than a kind of daily waiting attendance on the exalted Sovereign who receives his subjects’ homage morning and evening. And, although many Christians experience in pain and regret that daily prayer gets no further than this lowly stage, they are sure, nonetheless, that there should be more to it. In this field there lies a hidden treasure, if only I could find it and dig it up.”
 
My “light” reading is re-reading Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegon Days, and my late-night book is Scott Hahn’s Lord, Have Mercy.
 
Well I finished “Our Haunted Planet” and “The Great Divorce.” Now I am on “Theology of the Body.”
 
Right now I’m in the middle of A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving. I really want to know why Owen Meany despised Catholics so much!
