I’m reading “The Right Stuff” by Tom Wolfe.
First half was very well written & moving.Second half of the book was pretty seamy.I plan to read ANGELA’S ASHES, BY FRANK MCCOURT
Our library has a sale of old books every now and then, hardcovers for 25 cents and paperbacks for a dime. There are some well worn old and good books occasionally. I’m struggling thorough “Violence At Work”, by Joe Kinney ca. 1995, published by Prentiss-Hall. How do you go about getting permission to quote material from a copyrighted work? I sent a letter a few weeks ago but maybe it has to be certified mail. Who knows, please let me knowWill be starting “Trail of the Lonesome Pine” by John Fox, Jr. Really recommend his short stories & “The Little Shepherd Of Kingdom Come.” Great book for kids, too.Hard to find in our local libraries, though. They tend to get rid of the “oldies.”
I’m not sure about your question, hope you get an answer, but appreciate the idea about library book sales. check out some of the bookstores in your area, they may have tent sales. I know of one in Nashville that has 1 or 2 every year.I’m not sure about your question, hope you get an answer, but appreciate the idea about library book sales. Thanks!![]()
Thanks Flower1 for sharing. I will make a note to add this book to my collection and read it. The book sounds very interesting. I am presently re-readig the “7 Secrets of the Eucharist” by Vinny Flynn.I’ve discovered an awesome book titled “Get Us Out Of Here!!”, by Nicky Eltz. The author basically has a conversation with Maria Simma, a true mystic in our times. She was visited by souls from Purgatory with requests for Masses, prayers, good works, ect. on their behalf to free them. In addition to these requests, some of the suffering souls told her about the state of the church, the world and other important issues. Our former Holy Father, Pope John Paul 11 had given Maria Simma his blessing to continue her apostolate and she had been visited by a Bishop and an Archbishop who both love the Church and both love the Blessed Mother, and both were very close to the Holy Father. This is truly an inspiring book to remind us to pray for the souls in Purgatory and have Masses offered on their behalf, and offer all our sufferings and good works for them. Unfortunately, Maria Simma passed away in 2004. I cried when I read that. She was truly a beautiful and humble soul. I recommend this book for everyone.
