I’m reading “St Catherine of Siena” by Sigrid Undset. This is a very well written book about a very strong, beautiful and holy woman of God. I highly recommend it!

Peace and Goodness,

*College Apologetics *by Fr. Anthony Alexander
and
*The Anubis Gates *by Tim Powers

I am also reading this, just started it.

The Fourth Secret of Fatima by Antonio Socci. Interesting book, important questions not being answered by the Vactican Officials about the missing part of the Third Secret.

The new catholic answer bible.
Is this the book?

Sounds like a very interesting read.

I know many people even Catholics and I have to admit I also do on Catholicism.

Anyways, I read a booklet 30 day meditations with Pope Benedict XVI and I’m reading “Come to me in the Blessed Sacrament” by: Fr. Vincent Martin Lucia.

Should I allow my 15 yr old son to read “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult? The teacher encourages it.

I just finished The Screwtape Letters, and recently started Orlando Figes’s A People’s Tragedy: A History of the Russian Revolution.

I wouldn’t advise anyone to read Picoult, though that’s for literary reasons. Soon kids will be reading books by those novel factories Paterson and Grissham for Literature class. Ugh! What happened to Mark Twain and F. Scott Fitzgerald?

I always enjoy going on a nice little “the world is going to hell, what about the good old days” rant; it tickles my sense of irony, as I am far too young to be so notalgic.

Finished The Book of Daniel and about to start the Book of Hosea in the NAB Official Catholic Edition, and am about 2/3 of the way through the Book of Proverbs in the JPS Tanakh.

If I combine the books of the Catholic OT with the Jewish versions of the 12 minor prophets, than I have successfully completed the Old Testament texts in under a year, barring any other OT books accepted by the Orthodox Church, apocrypha, and pseudigrypha.

I’m less then 100 pages from hitting the first verse of the Gospel According to Matthew.

This Time is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly by Carmen M. Reinhart and Kenneth S. Rogoff

Looks like many schools have banned Mark Twain??? But I could be wrong about this.

What’s wrong with Jodi Picoult’s books/novels?

tgm21234- Oops! I realized I didn’t even finish my sentence or I forgot to add the word question there. 😊

I know many people even Catholics have questions and I have to admit I also do on Catholicism. That is why I think that book would be good.

The booklet I read was actually called " Walking in Faith - 30 Days with Pope Benedict XVI"

Usually I don’t like to read 2 books at the same time, but the first one offends my senses so I needed a break.

Thank God for Evolution: How the Marriage of Science and Religion Will Transform Your Life and Our World by Michael Dowd

The Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks

I usually have several books going at one time depending on my mood…🙂
  • “The Way I See It” by Temple Grandin. I think her life story is extraordinary and that she has some interesting insights regarding those individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • “Summer of '49” by David Halberstam. Pennant race between the Yanks and Red Sox and rivalry between Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. I have read most of Halberstam’s books. “The Coldest Winter” about the Korean Conflict is next on my list.
  • “Memo to the President” by Madeleine Albright. This was written before Mr. Obama was elected. Her life experiences are very interesting and she writes in an intelligent, reflective manner.

Not necessarily books. 🤷

Happy Reading everyone

God bless,

Interesting book. It really draws a clear line between the Jewish idea of God and the Christian one. Rabbi Kushner has many good things to say, but his ideas about God just about scream from the page for the need to know Christ.
