Ha, first thing I thought when I saw the thread title was “to fertilize the earth”.

😀

They certainly managed to do that – and maybe that’s what the earth needed at that time, to render it suitable for supporting future lifeforms.

OK…

And some claim mammals became food for some dinosaurs?
Or was it the other way around?
Or?
Carnivores vs herbivores vs omnivores. Watch some Attenborough, just replace for different dinosaur spp.

Whereas Attenborough presents great visuals
and sports a captivating timbre in his voice
he … is neither my GOTO when it comes to Man’s BioSciences nor God.

Carnivores vs herbivores vs omnivores?

Means absolutely nothing wrt my rather tongue-in-cheek_ed rhetorical questions…

There’s 10’s of Millions of Species in our Biota which depend in part upon the Biosphere for existence

Are you following me thus far?

No, I am not following you.

This answer makes no sense in regards to your question up thread which was

You dont think a big predatory carnivore would eat a tasty little mammal snack regardless of that mammal’s eating preferences?

Do you think a carnivore small mammal or mammal group could hunt , down and eat a larger herbivore dinosaur?

With 10’s of millions of species - give or take…
To single out Dinosaurs with regard to What’s God’s purpose for creating that species
comes across as an almost random sans any meaningful reason notion.

Any Question - Such As: What’s God’s purpose for creating any and/or every species?
Can only be answered in a very reduced generalized manner

God’s Purpose for Creating Adam and then Eve - is well-known.

God’s purpose for giving plants and animals for Man to subdue - is for Food, Helpers…

REF: GENESIS

Yes, but the dinosaurs were around long BEFORE humans or any mammals roamed the earth. That’s why their eras are called “prehistoric”, i.e. “before history”.

The plants and animals that God gave man to subdue showed up on our planet much, much later, as did human beings. We weren’t around when the dinos were.

REF: GENESIS
Where in Genesis is a reference to mammal eating or none mammal eating dinosaur?
Chapter , verse?

Why do you think God created dinosaurs, snakes, and murder wasps?

The terms ‘dinosaurs’ and “mammals” were invented by men
All the names of the creatures were invented by men. Remeber way back in Genesis where God paraded all His creatures in front of Adam so Adam could name them?
long after Eve disobeyed God via obeying a serpent.
Adam disobeyed God also, they both did. Adam could have said no, He after all , was leader, Eve could have said no, neither of them did.
Anything else?
Yes check your facts before presenting arguments like names like dinosaur and mammal were invented by Men.

Re read Genesis, the part where all the creatures are presented to Adam to name.

When it comes to the purpose of any creature, I wouldn’t primarily look at their purpose for humankind. All of creation, and in its diversity, is created to manifest the goodness and glory of God.

And that includes Murder Wasps, Mosquitoes, Carpenter Ants and Cockroaches, all created to manifest the goodness and glory of God – though in this life, we shall never understand quite how, where these creatures are concerned.

Remember, too, that God is allowing his creation to unfold and evolve over time, through the various evolutionary processes, including natural selection. These pesky creatures for which WE can see no good use exist as a part of those processes. Since it’s part of God’s plan to allow creation to evolve, we must assume He has a very good reason for that.

We may one day understand all of the whys and wherefores, God willing.

Maybe it was for God to have a good laugh, due to their big fat bodies, stubby little legs, and long tails, and purple fur.

Yes. God does not create for utilitarian purposes. Everything has a purpose, but the primary purpose is as you say, not for it’s “usefullness”.

Look up Theology of the Body.
St JP2 discusses man’s use of language in expressing creation and recognizing the “otherness” of other creatures.
