You’re right. I sense he’s waiting for something, no idea why i have that hunch
This, combined with Christian charity, respect for the Vicar of Christ and the fact that the information we seek isn’t public knowledge, as well as the previous point about scandal seekers, makes me think silence is probably prudent at this time.I’m fine with the silence. Silence was Jesus’ response to his critics
I don’t think there’s any doubt about thatAny statement he’d put out right now would likely be twisted and mangled to fit any number of agendas.
Sexual abuse (cynically and tragically) doesn’t surprise me. What surprises me is how people, eager to discredit this Pope and/or the Church, will turn on the victims if they don’t do things according to mob mentality. It’s…disturbing. It’s one big take away I’ve had, as well as the need to stick very closely and with vigilance to the reforms put in place.the victims,
Nor should it be. It will be revealed in it’s time and place.Surely, the truth will not be silent forever.
I didn’t realize the Pope was so distant from the affairs of his Episcopal Conferences as you describe. Since the highest juridical authority in the Catholic Church, which will be needed in matters as this, resides in the Apostolic Tribunal of the Roman Rota under oversight of the Holy Pontiff, perhaps the opposite of your claim is true. Indeed. For a global Church, this problem cannot be rightfully treated as merely a national matter.what truth?
catch up man, we have archbishops on prison terms here for covering up child abuse.
its time your country started doing the same
all talk and no action or blaming the big man and ignoring the little people just isn’t cricket
I thought that exact same thing. He says “the statement speaks for itself”.It sort of sounds like he’s agreeing with it.
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor. Matt. 2:12-14So - be humble and silent ?
That’s a good description of many Catholics today.
Glad Jesus wasn’t that - as he stood before all the Pharisees and Saducies -
i described no such thing. do what we are doing, we have an archbishop on a prison term for covering up child abuse. and that is through the secular court system. we have priests in jail for child abuse. we have a cardinal going on trial for alleged child abuse.I didn’t realize the Pope was so distant from the affairs of his Episcopal Conferences as you describe.
