What Do You Wear Around Your Neck?

The brown scapular of our Lady of Mt. Carmel with the Miraculous medal sewn onto the cloth that hangs out front–the weight of the medal also ensures that the front cloth at least won’t ride all the way up to the neck and that the strings are down taut and not slipping off the shoulder.
 
I wear a brown scapular under my clothes. This only comes off when I shower.

Over my clothes I wear a necklace (which I mostly made myself). On it is a crucifix and surrounding it are saints medals: A metal scapular, St. Michael, St. Christopher, St. Dymphna, St Benedict, St. Ann, St. Gerard, and the Miraculous medal. This necklace is blessed. I take it off only when I shower, so it doesn’t rust.

I also wear a one decade wrist rosary. It never comes off. On it is an Agnus Dei sacramental, and a miraculous medal. It is also blessed.

I feel as if these sacramentals help keep evil away from me. Also, these things are a good way to spread the faith. Many patients of mine inquire about my necklace out of curiosity. This gives me a chance to show them how much I love my faith and Our Lord.

My only complaint is that my Brown Scapular itches sometimes. It also sometimes gets wound up in my necklace, especially when I sleep. But hey, if figure I can offer up my sufferings to God. LOL! It’s a small sacrifice.
 
Right now nothing. When I make my oblation as an Oblate of St. Benedict, I will wear the oblate medal, but possibly as a lapel pin.
 
I wear a St Michael the Archangel medal and also a St Joan of Arc medal. I invoke them both in my daily spiritual battles.

Miraculous medal and a brown scapular, but it makes my Protestant hubby nervous when I wear it to bed. Come to think of it, he was nervous when I started to hang a crucfix in our bedroom too… :rolleyes:

Edit: I just read that one had to be enrolled prior to wearing a scapular? I guess I’ll hang mine up then.

i wear a brown scapular, & a sterling silver medal of st. theresa of lisieux & our lady of mount carmel----my husband always wore a st. benedict cross & a brown scapular & when he was sick in the hospital we had to take his brown scapular off his neck----a friend suggested putting his around his wrist like a hospital bracelet which we did–he was due to come home from the hospital on wednesday & the Lord took him to his eternal home on tuesday----he had a priest with him when he died (or very soon after) & the first thing that i noticed when they told me that he had died was the brown scapular around his wrist—The Lord keeps his promises—
 
I voted ‘other’ because I wear several of the options: a brown scapular (I carry the green in my wallet); a crucifix;a miraculous medal; a St. Joseph medal; and a Eucharistic medal. There is no magic about them. I wear them because I need all the help I can get to remain faithful and pray for the grace to do so. Please pray for me also, as I pray for all of you.

About 12 years ago I bought a silver St. Benedict medal. I am very much attracted to this Saint after I have read his life story and each night I say a prayer to St Benedict for a good death. Shortly after the purchase, I found laying around the house a silver crucifix that I think might have belonged to my daughter who then was still a teenager and very much into wearing religious symbols in imitation of the singer Madonna. The crucifix is somewhat smaller than the medal but matches the medal in color perfectly. I placed both articles on a silver looking necklace and I wear the necklace all the time. I have had many people comment on how pretty the combination looks: the crucifix is in front of the medal.

Lo and behold, a few years later religious stores began to sell the combination of a crucifix with the Saint Benedict medal in the background. .

There is no special significance attached to this combination. The two religious articles just go together real well. I like to think that I was the originator of this idea by pure coincidence and inspiration of the moment. Please know that before I had placed these two religious articles together on a chain and began to wear them around my neck, I have never seen the combination that is now being sold everywhere in Catholic religious stores.

I had worn the necklace a good two years when I made several visits to a St Benedict monastery located in the Southern California desert. I am just speculating that religious or any other person associated with that monastery thought: “Hey, that is a good idea,” and they began to make these type of crucifixes. I say “Good for them or any other St Benedict monastery if they can make some money for their order by selling this product.”

I am so pleased to see the many variations of this theme: Crucifix and St Benedict medal. I am also beginning to see the crucifix combined with other medals of saints.

I wear a gold cross w/the holy face on it which I bought in Fatima, and the scapular medal.
 
I wear a miraculous medal. It reminds me that Jesus Christ’s own mother has been commissioned to interceed for us, and is a mother to us all. Wearing the medal is my small showing of faith that miracles can and do happen. If one leaves open the possibility of a miracle (mustard seed faith), God will give you his best.
 
I love this question. I have a scapular. I make, promote and give these away with friends of mine in our prayer cenacle. I wear a crucifix with corpus, a miraculous medal and a 3rd class relic of St. Anthony.

I know we all kid with each other about jingling and everything, but we are recognized and recognize each other. My sister had to move out to Iowa with her family. One day at church she was invited to a prayer group by a woman at church. She didn’t know anyone yet. She asked her what prompted her to approach her. The woman told her “You are one of us.” My sister said “What”. She said yes, I saw your scapular sticking out the back of your shirt and I knew you were one of us. We are given to recognize each other in this beautiful way.

My friends and I make, encourage, teach and give away scapulars to everyone we meet.

I wear the scapular of our Lady of Mount Carmel…My mother gave it to me before I left for college and I just kept it around and never wore it; it wasn’t until she passed away this past september that I remembered the scapular and started wearing it. I see it as a reminder of the two mothers I have in heaven:)

I also wear a crucifix and occasionally I’ll wrap my cheepo string rosary around my wrist.
 
Right now I just wear a cross, but I plan to replace it with a crucifix when I start grad school in December and have a bit more of an income. Also, I would like to get a medal of St. Albert the Great (my patron saint), but haven’t been able to find one so far.

Divine Mercy Medal, Cross, Miraculous Medal in a chain. They’re always with me to remind me of God’s great mercy, that Jesus let himself be nailed to a cross for me and my devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

I’m curious to know how people wear the Scapular and do they wear it all the time?

Lately I have been wearing a gold Eucharistic medal engraved with the date of my marriage convalidation.

I also wear a silver colored Miraculous Medal that was given to me at Adoration. A miracle I had been praying for happened to me that very day!!

I have a gold cross my great-grandfather gave me when I was baptized.

I have a blue Our Lady of Lourdes medal I received from the midwife when I was born. It has a drop of holy water from Lourdes in it.

I would like to have a diamond cross but somehow that doesn’t seem right in some way.
