What if "gay" men die of AIDS far more than any other group of people?

What you quoted doesn’t offer any evidence in support of your claim.

It starts by acknowledging that some parents confuse gender identity with sexual orientation. It then says that parents should promote gender identity congruence in their children. However, the quote offers no indication that gender identity is related to sexual orientation. The quote then hopes the reader will conflate gender identity and sexual orientation by invoking the Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality. However, the quote gives no evidence to support the idea that gender identity and sexual orientation are related.

I think what you have quoted is pseudo-science. It tries to wrap itself up in the respectability of science, while avoiding any of the responsibilities. Certainly, it does not show that childhood gender identity is related to adult sexual orientation.
lol, and when I posted an actual scientific paper about it all he can do is criticize its sources while providing none of his own.

I think it is broadly accepted and broadly true that active male homosexuals have far higher incidence of STD, far lower life expectancy and far higher rates of psychological difficulties than the population at large.

**Some of these difficulties are consequent on actions taken, some are probably expressive of the psychological disorders founding the pathology in the first place. **Some are probably avoidable. Others not.

In any case I think the proper response if to treat the sick, comfort the dying, embrace the lonely and keep before them the reality that they can free themselves from the phallophilia that is endangering them.
I think there is a lot more evidence that these psychological disorders affecting homosexuals have a lot more to do with the way society views homosexuality and how homosexuals are stigmatized for their sexuality than disorders they have themselves.

What IF gay men die of AIDS far more than any other group of people? So what?

I don’t mean to lessen the seriousness of this disease, but does this have any moral implications?

Many gay men are HIV positive, spread the disease around, and eventually develop AIDS. Is there anything moral to discuss here?

Knowingly spreading disease is immoral. We know that.

Homosexual behavior is commonly at fault for spreading disease. We know that.

Homosexual behavior is immoral per Catholic Moral Theology, we know that too.

Not much to see here, folks.

“When Activism Masquerades as Science: Potential Consequences of Recent APA Resolutions”

By A. Dean Byrd, Ph. D., MBA, MPH

There is a gay activist group that’s very strong and very vocal and recognized by the American Psychiatric Association…there’s nobody to give the other viewpoint…There may be a few people…but they don’t talk” (Spitzer, 2004).

Recent actions by the American Psychological Association (APA) have raised questions about its credibility as a scientific organization – particularly, the resolutions on Sexual Orientation and Marriage, and on Sexual Orientation, Parents, and Children.

Activists’ Interpretation of the Research

Completely absent from the September issue of the Monitor on Psychology and with only the briefest of notes in the October Monitor, the resolutions on gay marriage and on parenting by gay partners were announced at the APA annual meeting this summer.

Rhea Farberman notes in the October Monitor, there is no research that suggests that “same-sex couples should be denied marriage rights” and that a “review of the literature calls for joint and second-parent adoption rights for gay parents” (2004, p. 24)

**APA insists that the resolutions are based on the recommendations of “researchers who study same-sex families and relationships” (Farberman, 2004, p. 24). **

**Consider those who were appointed to the committee: **

**Armand Cerbone **who was **inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2003 **and was recognized for the distinguished service to the gay movement by the Society of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Issues;

Beverly Green, editor of Psychological Perspectives on Lesbian and Gay Issues, Kristen Hancock who developed “Guidelines for Psychotherapy with Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Clients”;

**Lawrence A. Kurdek **Editorial Board of Contemporary Perspectives on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Psychology and Candace A. McCullough-- whose partner, Sharon Duchesneau, was artificially inseminated from a deaf sperm donor to make it highly likely that their children would be born deaf because of their belief that deafness is not a medical condition but a cultural identity! (McElroy, 2002).

The committee members were hardly an unbiased group! "

from A. Dean Byrd’s wikipedia:

Although raised by a Buddhist mother and a Baptist father, Byrd converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is very active in the debate within the LDS church on issues involving homosexuality

And from the American Psychological Association’s wikipedia:

The American Psychological Association (abbreviated APA) is the largest scientific and professional organization of psychologists in the U.S. and is the world’s largest association of psychologists with around 152,000 members including scientists, educators, clinicians, consultants and students and has an annual budget of around $115m. The American Psychological Association is occasionally confused with the American Psychiatric Association, which also uses the acronym APA.

hmmm…I wonder who has more of an agenda here?

I think it is broadly accepted and broadly true that active male homosexuals have far higher incidence of STD, far lower life expectancy and far higher rates of psychological difficulties than the population at large.
Whoa…I think it is established that some male homosexuals have a higher incidence of STD etc. However, perhaps you should distinguish between the different behaviors, which is to say lifestyles, of men who are homosexual. There is no reason, other than stereotyping, to assume that a “homosexual lifestyle” exists.

Indeed, studies show that the risk factors for HIV, and other risks, are concentrated within a a small segment of the homosexual male community.

“152,000 members including scientists, educators, clinicians, consultants and students and has an annual budget of around $115 million”

Yet,

“We reviewed the **limited research on child and adolescent issues **and drew the following conclusions:”

OK, so what do we all suppose would happen if the information asked for was provided?

Well, here it is…

Nothing at all to dispute the research then a logical fallacy in argument.

Seems to me that someone here is simply unwilling to listen.

What were they supposed to do? They reviewed the research that was available and drew conclusions from it. What are you trying to say here? I don’t understand your problem with this statement.

lol, yes. I agree. You are talking about Barbkw when you say that someone here is unwilling to listen, right?

When Boys Won’t Be Boys: Childhood Gender Indentity Disorder
DR. RICHARD FITZGIBBONS & DR. JOSEPH NICOLOSI

Gender identity problems, including cross-dressing, exclusive cross-gender play, and a lack of same-sex friends should be treated as a symptom that something may be wrong —very wrong.

"Today many adults try very hard not to impose rigid gender stereotypes on young children, but this push for gender openness can lead parents to ignore the symptoms of gender identity conflict.

Children with gender identity problems don’t inhabit a gender-neutral world where boys and girls play with the same toys. These troubled children reject certain types of play and clothing precisely because it is associated with their own gender, or they adopt activities because they are associated in their mind with the opposite sex. Boys with serious gender identity problems may use female clothing to gain acceptance or soothe anxiety, and become angry and upset when deprived of these objects.

Some parents may ask, “What is wrong with a boy playing with dolls?” **The answer is that the problem is as much with what he is not doing — learning how to be a boy among boys — as it is with what he is doing, which is escaping into a female world. **

Parents need to be concerned when a child openly expresses a dissatisfaction with his or her sex, such as when a boy says, “I want to be a girl” or when a girl insists she is a boy.

One extremely effeminate boy, when asked, “Do you want to be like your daddy when you grow up?” responded, “I don’t want to grow up.” Such statements should be taken as symptoms that something is very wrong. Although the boy may feel or even express the desire to grow up to be a woman, he is male and will grow up to be a man.

“Some boys suffer from a chronic sense of feeling inadequate in their masculinity, but do not imitate female behavior. These boys may exhibit an almost phobic reaction to rough-and-tumble play and an intense dislike of team sports because of poor eye-hand coordination. This inability to bond with other boys through sports leads to isolation, profound loneliness, a weak sense of masculinity, deep resentment, and often depression.”

No. The facts of the question and the need for you to clarify makes my point abundently clear.
from the Narth wikipedia:

“National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH), formerly National Association for Research and Treatment of Homosexuality, is a non-profit organization that offers conversion therapy and other regimens intended to change the sexual orientation of individuals who experience unwanted sexual attraction to members of the same sex.”

Once again from the APA wikipedia:

“The American Psychological Association (abbreviated APA) is the largest scientific and professional organization of psychologists in the U.S. and is the world’s largest association of psychologists with around 152,000 members including scientists, educators, clinicians, consultants and students and has an annual budget of around $115m. The American Psychological Association is occasionally confused with the American Psychiatric Association, which also uses the acronym APA.”

Another quote from the Narth wikipedia:

" In a legal brief submitted to the supreme court of the state of California, the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, and National Association of Social Workers stated that no major mental health professional organization has sanctioned efforts to change sexual orientation and many have adopted policy statements cautioning the profession and the public about treatments that purport to change sexual orientation."

One of these groups is mainstream and supported by the GREAT majority of psychologists in America, and one of them is not. One of them is a fringe group made up of the religious right.

The APA is more respectable than one mormon psychologist. That is just a fact.

Again, this has nothing to do with homosexuality, which I believe is the topic of the thread.
Good point. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a boy, but I am definitely a heterosexual woman, and always have been. 🙂

I still prefer pants to skirts. 🤷

Identity disorders in young male and female children, when left untreated, advance into sexual and identity disorders in puberty & young adulthood.

How many times have we heard people say… “He finally told us he was homosexual, but that came as no shock to us, he was like that as a kid.”

Can you please provide evidence for this?

If the argument of STD’s and infidelity is ever used against the homosexual lifestyle then that person runs into quite the problem when it comes to condemning female homosexuals.

erm… are you seriously offering a popular stereotype as your proof? :o

From what I know of male homosexuals, gender identity has ever been a question. However, I think you are actually referring to gender expression, which is a totally different thing.

“The APA is more respectable than one mormon psychologist. That is just a fact.”

They are not respectable, they are cowards.

Self serving cowards, who stand by and deny children afflicted with gender disorders the help that they need.
