Pax Christi,

For those of you who feel comfortable, this is a thread where you can explain the meaning of your username (if you wish).

We have had such threads in the past, but not for a little while.

My username is rather self explanatory.

I am a Catholic and I was born in 2003. In retrospect, I should have chosen a much more creative name. Alas, I kept it very simple! I am sure most people have worked that out already!

God Bless

My goodness, you are young. Also, mine is not that different than yours, I’ll leave it at that.

I like the number 7 and my life has been hard.

I also am devoted to the 7 Sorrows of Mary and her 7 Joys.

In an MMORPG called Runescape, I chose the name “dracula_16” because vampires fascinated me. I shortened it to “drac” because I wanted to be more original. The 16 at the end of my name comes from me having been born on the 16th of November.

My name is Classical Arabic for “of the Cross”, and can also mean “Crusader”, and, when pronounced slightly differently, “my cross.”

Salib: Cross.

Salibi: of the Cross.

In all honesty when I was first creating my account I had a copy of Thomas Asbridge’s The Crusades at my table, so I went with that.

I appreciate the Arabic lesson. It is a language that both fascinates and frustrates me.

I just found out about the “7 Sorrows Rosary” two days ago when I joined an online Zoom meeting of some faithful in our area, praying the rosary. Instead of the usual “5 mysteries of the day” or the “Divine Mercy Chaplet”, they did the 7 Sorrows Rosary. Very different and inspirational. I need to find out more about it.

As for my user name, it is from a short story by J.R.R. Tolkien called “Leaf By Niggle”. It is a beautiful Christian allegory, and I shed a tear whenever I read it.

My father was of an Irish background, my mom was Italian. I think more like my father did in many ways, so I consider myself an Irish mom. The 2 was added because they indicated when signing up that there was already an Irishmom. (Probably some imposter! 😉 )

This name is, and will always be emotional for me…Her name, “LibbeyLu” was given to her by a dear friend when I brought her home…it was love at first sight! She was my first… and I miss her still…her passing was so unbearable…she was a diabetic and passed away. My heart was broken… 💔 I suffered from her loss and would include her in my prayers at Mass…even lit a candle for her. After she died, I placed her little body on my Dryer and lit a candle and said a prayer alongside my husband. She had a little way of “scouting” around the floor whenever I would come home. So precious was she…now resides in my flower garden with her little plaque which has her name inscribed on it and the words “LibbeyLu” now scouting among the clouds in heaven"…(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

My username just occurred to me on the spur of the moment. I hadn’t planned it in advance. I thought that, for a Catholic forum, a saint’s name would be suitable. My real given name isn’t a saint’s name, but it starts with a B. And St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, is where I was born.
