What is the sin with the worst (long-term) consequences (to the soul)?

i don’t know why people chose Hatred of Others… because hatred in & of itself causes NO harm… it is only when it is acted on that it is a problem…

i sometimes feel great hatred for certain people who do horrible evil (abortionists)… but i also pray for thier conversion…

that’s interesting… becaues if i had known long ago about the absolute holiness & perfect justice of God… who does not let evil doers get away w/ thier evil (as humans do)… i would have gone back to the Church a LONG LONG time b4 i did…

yes, hypocricy gets on my nerves probably more than a lot of other sins do… because sinners… well, u expect them to do what they do… but Christians… !!!:rolleyes:
 
How about…

Not loving God with all your heart and soul…and your neighbor as yourself. Oh…throw in not forgiving. 🙂

I WISH we had homilies on Hell & damnation!!

instead all we get is priests who might as well say that everyone goes to Heaven… except maybe Stalin, Hitler … and Obama…

No argument from me on that one…but let’s take a example.

Someone that is 35 years old and has been a faithful Catholic all his/her life…attending Mass at least every Sunday…may a couple of times during the week. Goes to confession regularly…because he wants to out of love for God.

One Sunday he misses Mass when he could have gone. Instead he decides to go out with friends and watch the football game. He dies in a car accident on the way to the game. Is he in a state of mortal sin?

ok, but which sin separates the greatest… takes the longest to expiate or atone for…

i lean toward homosexual acts… (males)…

or am i getting spiritual consequences mixed up w/ physical… probably…possibly…

but i do tend to think God hates male homosexuality more than female…

We can know that if the three conditions are met, intentionally missing Mass is mortal sin.

Look at it in human terms, if a man is 35 and a faithful husband, he loves his wife and kids, they make love a couple of times a week.

One day he decides to have sex with the neighbor lady.

Is he in a state of mortal sin?

Yes he is. But the question is…what happens if he dies before confessing? I think that unlike the Orthodox…we Catholics tend to be very legalistic.

the best thing we can do is spend time w/ Jesus in the Real Presence…

He shows us the truth about our lives… Truth hurts,but when u r in the RP, it only hurts 4 a short time… not forever, as in Hell… becaues Jesus lovingly goes thro our lives w/ us while There… JEsus helps us to accept the truth about… everything… There is far more to what goes on There (w/ me) than that… words are SO indadequate… but then… of course they r… we’re speaking of God here… &absolute truth (Jesus)

maybe that’s why so many people end up in Hell… they don’t spend time With Jesus in the Real Presence… they don’t get “acclimated” to Him… in this life… so they r not prepared 4 the next… Truth knocks them over in the next life because they never really knew it very well in this one…

**there is the truth of the world, the flesh & the devil & then there isthe truth of God… 2 different things… **

well, a man can penetrate… go places God never wanted /.intended… :eek:.

a woman can’t…

but it is a mortal sin w/ either one… I’m just referring to consequences… phsyical & spiritual…

i hateto tell u this, but Jesus Christ is legalistic

when asked what a person must do to be saved Jesus said to obey the Commandmetns…

He didn’t say Accept me as your personal Savior (whatever that means exactly)… YEs we should have a relatioships w/ Jesus… but what kind of relationshiop… One where we say, “Hey, Jesus, what’s happenin’? I committed fornication today… but i know You understand… and I’m forgiven no matter what. See ya… I’m off to party again…”

not such a great relationship, is it?

no, ***Jesus said to obey God’s laws… ***
