thanks tad ! Amazing birds
I think it’s ingenious. How does anyone ever think of this stuff? At first glance on my wee phone screen I didn’t notice the slightly larger one near the middle
The Western Tanager was one of the first birds I identified as a young birder. I haven’t seen a Evening Grosbeak in years. I used to see them around my hometown in Montana quite a bit. This is a picture of another bird from my youth, a Townsend’s Solitaire from my trip to Sedona two weekends ago. I see them in the winter both here in Arizona and in Montana. I guess the difference is whether they prefer warm juniper berries or frozen mountain ash berries.I love the colorful Western Tanager. We used to have them, here – but haven’t seen them in recent years. Also, Evening Grossbeaks are beautiful. I love all birds, and feed them in my garden.
/Ah, yes! The bluish tints of early morning light and shadow play. I once saw a Townsend’s Solitaire in our yard. I recognized it by the white eye ring and it’s general build and coloring. Also, size.
