They must be ready to move quickly !
Sometimes I will have one come in the garden after farmers burn off crop stubble nearby. So many Hawks hover over the smoke ,taking advantage of the mice and quail cover gone .

They’re precocial which means they’re running around as soon as their hatched. In the case of this batch, they first have to survive about a meter drop from my fountain that I converted into a planter. Quail have a penchant for nesting in planters around here. I don’t know if they like the cool dirt or if it keeps them safe from snakes, or what.

Mom brought the kids back late last evening. It was getting dark and we had storm clouds so the light was lousy but I did get these pics. These chicks are less than a day old!

Ho-Oh (Japanese: ホウオウ Houou). Long have I searched for this Legendary Pokemon. I traveled across the Johto region before arriving in Ecruteak City. I managed to briefly spot it.
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are also worthy mentions. I could go on and on and list every bird pokemon in Nintendo existence (including that new one, Corviknight).

Your photographs are beautiful! This one of Mamma Q and her littles is so sweet!

How about another bird pic? This is a Song Sparrow photographed at Lake George in New York last weekend. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

On a swamp not far away there’s a brolga on her nest, and very close by a black swan on hers 🙂 They seem to be good neighbours .

The English blackbirds are beginning their pleasant calls early in the morning now, really lovely to hear.Almost Spring!

When I went to mass yesterday, the roof of our priest’s house was almost totally covered in Starlings. I wish I would have had a camera. I think they’re so beautiful with their colour and their markings. What a neat sight to see!

I’m waking up to their song, along with the blackbirds 🙂 It would have been some sight!

I live close to a little pond with ducks. Sometimes Canada geese swim there, and then decide to walk around the road near the pond. And block traffic.

Why don’t they fear cars?
