😅… What stories the Curmugions could conjure and write scripts for…💰 katching!!

Sorry - God’s creatures have their feelings too. :anguished:emphasized text

Have you ever seen a little baby bird that fell out of its nest and doesn’t know how to fly? The Momma bird will fuss and stay near until the fledgling gets into some cover - then flight lessons begin!

Every fowl encounter…the cats left a dead magpie on my doormat last night ,roadkill as magpies are fighting over territory at the moment ,too focused on the battle.😑
And they have begun the nest building 😃

An unusual bird encounter. I’m not sure who left these large bird depictions outside our local high school, or why

This morning, I saw this Snowy Egret.

So, I have a little sad news regarding baby birds. The the young Lucy’s Warbler in the nest I posted above jumped ship a little too early and died the day after this photo was taken. I was pretty bummed out about it, but I believe the pair went on to breed successfully in the desert lot behind my house. I’ll buy a nest box that’s designed for the warblers next year and post it a little higher up in hopes of success.

In other news, I have a pair of nesting Verdins, another quail nest with 10 eggs in my fountain/planter and of course, numerous Mourning Dove nests.

Here’s the nearly fledged youngster

Here’s one of the adults foraging in the mesquites that day

I like that idea. 😁 To think I truly forgot the name of these birds and when I saw the name…well a good chuckle came forth.

I saw that peacock (or peahen) again that lives in my neighborhood. Its loud honk sounds like one of those old bicycle horns with the squeeze ball.

I think Peacock and peahens have a wonderful sense of humour 🧐
That honk noise…takes me back to visiting a wildlife park with my children …the honk was the highlight that years later makes me laugh 😅

Years ago when I stayed on a farm in India I was impressed by the chickens that were running about the place. They looked similar to these 🙂

I really like quail. They are such a shy bird. They are lots of fun to watch. Yep! I like quail very much and no, I don’t mean for a meal. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Last years humming bird. They are fun to watch too. We put a plastic bowl (glued with hot glue gun) and filled it with water. This way the ants can’t get to the sugar water.

No luck fishing yesterday, but it was so nice walking along the creek amoung big red gums and hearing the birds…swallows and ducks flying along the water.

As is my tradition, when ever I get an inheritance or make a nice sale on my art, I like to invest in new optics. Since both have happened to me in the past few months, I bought a new camera. Here’s a few of the results.

Red-faced Warbler from a hike last Saturday

Black-headed Grosbeak (see it’s gros beak?)

White-winged Dove. My new camera is a lot like my old camera except it’s a lot faster and collects more light. I’m pleased with the results.

Female Black-chinned Hummingbird (I think) at my bird bath.

My quail hatched her eggs sometime last night. I heard the male calling in the dark which I thought was really unusual. The youngsters were all gone by this morning. I’m sorry I missed them. Baby quail are really cute.
