What is your favorite bird? And every fowl encounter you've had under the sun

Yes, there are so many people out there that do very foolish things. And I tend to lose patience with them. But the thought just occurred to me that I do such things but tend to be more or less oblivious to them. 😮

I’ll download your photos when I get home and let you know what I think. They actually do look good for Willets even from a distance.

On the whirlybird, what gender is that?

When I was out in the field last weekend I ran into a professional bird guide who was using a laser to point out to his clients where the bird was. He was also using recordings which is a definite no-no in popular birding areas. You’d think he know better.

Looking at the one shown with the image magnified, it looks like male of the species.

I only saw one of those in my life, and that was after 3 bottles of wine.

A 2 on a long par three with water to the left and sand traps fronting the green.

I love a particular bird that I can’t identify : the song is often ( using Do scale ) Do Do LAAA FaFaFa. There are variations to the tune … I can’t figure out which bird it is. I think the same bird returned to my yard a few years in a row, staying spring through mid summer. His descendants sing similarly, but not as talented. I think the bird listened to piano students and was inspired . Sometimes the song switches to the first 4 notes of Beethoven’s 5th.

Very pretty. The nasty screaming that’s halfway through the video is similar to my husband’s Macaw. Horrible sound. Ghastly. Parrots need to fly free like these, not be caged up. God gave them wings for flight. They are never tame, equipped with can opener beaks. Humans are attracted to the beauty, but they need to be free like these. However, that is quite a din if they are near your house.

I couldn’t imagine having one in a cage if it were screeching and unhappy ,pacing back and forth or something.Up north there are flocks of budgerigars
they seem more content when bred domestically.

I bred both budgerigars and zebra finches 30 years ago. When they’ve been raised in captivity and spent all their lives in a cage and indoors, they adapt well enough. These days, I like seeing them the way they are in your video, outdoors and flying free, much better!

We used to sell them for $14.95 a piece. I’ve come a long way since my time working in the pet store, but the thought still flashed across my mind, “There’s a fortune flying by in that video!”

It’s a Song Sparrow!

They’re Willets in non-breeding plumage with a few possible Won’t it’s in the mix. A good field mark for Willets if you’re not sure is the strong black and white stripes on the under wing when they fly.

How do you do? I live in a zoo. Here’s a young Cooper’s Hawk enjoying my water feature.

A young Cooper’s Hawk hit our garage door a few years ago and was stunned, damaging a wing. My sister and I put it in a box and I took it to a raptor rescue center just south of us. They said they would release back in our general area once rehabilitated.

I’ve been searching for the Legendary Birds. They’re are a group of legendary flying type Pokémon comprising Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

Thank you for helping my brothers. Your kindness shall not be forgotten.

A couple of Christmas’s ago in Portland OR. How appropriate.
