I wonder where this guy went. I kinda miss him.
He’s taking a break and said he plans to return but didn’t say how long he’d be gone or when he’d return.
I kinda miss him too!

We’ll keep posting until he returns 🙂
There’s a Currawong living in my town, having flown out of the nearby mountains and his compass must have broken. So I thought.Ive never see them just here before.Anyway,my neighbours said now there’s a pair:D
And we found out they like hen houses (for the scraps) and small birds like the fairy wrens …😱 I’ll post again,so you’ll know what these birds look like…

Well, I’ll miss your peaceful spirit if you do decide to take a break.

I’m new here, you all have been a blessing to me.

I’m so busy that I can’t spend too much time in here. I noticed that I do tend to come and go as things interest me.

It just occurred to me that I came into CAF shortly before Ash Wednesday. Now that Pentecost is just around the corner, I’ve spent all of this sacred season with you all. It’s been an interesting year for me so far, full of transitions and changes. Jamal, as well as the rest of you, brought some refreshing respite.

It’s so good to be among my fellow Catholics, especially Catholics who like birds.

No problem there. 😁 I’m fully capable of hijacking this thread.

I’ve really enjoyed hearing about your birds. Fairy Wrens must be especially superb to live around.

Thanks for posting the video of the Fairy Wren, @Greenfields. They are simply beautiful little birds!

Their coloring is so very beautiful! How striking! I can just imagine what it is, to see them live and in-person. God has really created some beautiful creatures! ❤️

Hi @tad,

It has been really great having you here with us at CAF!

I have enjoyed reading your posts. You have been fun to post with, and I have also enjoyed seeing your beautiful bird paintings, too. You are a very gifted and talented artist, and I really admire your work. ❤️

I have also enjoyed seeing the beautiful photos of birds that you have shared with us, too.

I also enjoy seeing what others like to do as far as hobbies are concerned. 🙂

I hope that you will continue to share your bird photos with us. 🙂

God bless you! 🙂

I was just reading an article about US Postal Service “love stamp” designs over the years. Here I post several designs which feature birds. Enjoy!

I encountered year bird #180 yesterday. I found a flock of 15 White-faced Ibis feeding in the grass of the recharge basins at Sweetwater Wetlands. The battery in my camera was dead, so here’s an old, bad picture of some ibis up in Oregon. I’ll try to get some better pictures when I’m there in a couple weeks. I encountered my first and only European Robin at Lourdes. Since we don’t mind bad photos here, here’s a bad photo of it. In retrospect.I probably should have laid off the digital zoom.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
An English friend from another forum tells me that in local lore, whenever one of these birds cross your path, it’s a loved one from Heaven coming to say ‘hello’. They remind him of his mum. Here’s a picture he took. I’m going to paint it someday. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
That’s lovely . Thanks .

Sadly, even though I enlarged this photo, it’s difficult to see the birds clearly. Ibis are interesting birds and can’t wait until you’re able to take more recent photos and post them. Your photos are always of very good quality and composition and I look forward to seeing them.

When I worked in Ireland years ago now,I really enjoyed cutting back growth on one of the hedgerow lined farm tracks that the milk tanker had to get through. It was a combination of dirt bank and stone wall, with dog roses, elderberries, black berry ,hawthorn and honeysuckle (what a heavenly scent!)
The track ,which would have been a road from long ago,was very narrow.
Every time I worked hard a little robin would accompany me singing sweetly ,hopping and flitting and picking up any insect or worm that was uncovered in the trimming .Just one of those moments in time that stay so vivid in my mind, bringing back the scent, all the sounds, air currents of warm and cooler and damp in the shade…I can’t find an emote for that 🙂

I’ll try to do better. 😫

😆

I think that’s great that your giving my photos the critical eye. I selected the one of the ibis mostly for personal emotional value. I got excited when I saw it because it took back to a place and time when I was filled with awe and wonder. It is a terrible photo though. I took it with my Canon Powershot which can take some really nice shots as long as everything is in place.

Here’s an American Goldfinch at Tualatin NWR in Oregon that provides a good example. I’ve cropped this photo.

Here’s a better ibis shot for you. This is from last year here in AZ.

It makes me happy to know you’re looking at my photos so closely. Thank you!

Oh dear, I hope my comment didn’t upset you! That wasn’t my intent.

Thank you tad for your beautiful photos and for the recent photo of the ibis! I check this thread every day for your photos and to see birds I don’t see here on the east coast.

I have a Canon Powershot that was purchased back in 2007. It’s old now but has served me well taking photos of family, friends and my cats (who never stay still for any photos! 😼)

Thanks. Looking at them again, they all look like immatures. Mature White-faced Ibis look a lot like Glossy Ibis. We get Glossy Ibis out east. They’re almost identical. I wonder if they’re the same a your Glossy Ibis?

We also have a White Ibis, but they live in the southeastern US.

Not at all. You sound like you might have a bit of an art background. As an artist, I like constructive feedback. 😃

On the other hand, I don’t want to discourage anyone from posting their own bad photos. I like bird pics of all types.

Many in my family are artistic. My mom is an artist and has done paintings in oils, watercolors and pastels since her younger years. She’s 90 now and can no longer paint or draw (which frustrates and upsets her). Mom’s dad liked to draw and do calligraphy and used to make posters, etc. for his church.

My dad’s hobby was photography and he had a dark room in the basement back in the day to develop his photos. He also played the trumpet and piano. My sister draws and paints very well but she has no confidence and never shows anyone her work. Her husband went to art school and draws and paints too and is very good.

😄 I have no talent in art or drawing or in anything at all! 😁 However, don’t know if it counts or not, but I once did embroidery and needlepoint but can’t anymore because of the arthritis in my hands.

Bird pic-of-the-day, this is a Red-naped Sapsucker at my water feature last Fall.
