If we call the LDS Church or the Book of Mormon “false” it’s distasteful. Get used to the truth about the Mormon Church. It’s false, and we’ve gone into detail here over and over and over again about why it is false.
The doctrines of Mormonism and the doctrines of Catholicism are incompatible. They can not both be true. They contradict one another. Who is a nice person is irrelevant. Logic says that one or both of these religions are false. Both can not be true. If a person believes Mormon doctrine the person should be a Mormon, but implicitly that means the person rejects Catholic doctrine as false. I am a Catholic, because I believe Catholic doctrine is true, and implicitly thatt means I believe Mormonism is false. I am not offended, nor do I think it is “distasteful” that a Mormon, Baptist or Hindu would believe or say Catholic doctrine is false. That is what I expaect from a Mormon or any non-Catholic. Why would a Mormon find it distasteful if a non-Mormon rejects Mormon beliefs? If I accepted them I would be a Mormon. I believe they are false. I reject them. Why is that “distasteful”?
The fact that I do not believe Mormon doctrine does not mean I am not nice, or that I hate Mormons. I do not respect their beliefs, because I think they are false. Why would I respect what I think is false and misleading people? It does not offend me that Mormons would think or say they do not respect my beliefs. They shouldn’t respect them if they think they are false. If they do not think they are false they should be Catholic.
We can all be civil to one another and love one another. We can all love atheists or communists or budhists, but that does not mean we respect what they believe about reality.
The OP is persistently disingenuous. If people of different religions want to discuss their beliefs they should discuss their beliefs. The line that my friends are nicer than yours is irrelevant.
What Mormons believe, the content of the doctrine, the precepts of Mormonism are obviously false. Call me not nice for saying it. That is what I believe. That does not make me less kind, or bad, or mean, or hateful, or even heaven forbid, a basher. That is what I honestly think. I do not dislike you or Mormons. I do not dislike you if you say the same things about my religion. It does not matter to me what you say about my religion to my face or among your fellow Mormons.
