What other forums on the Internet are similar to CAF?

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned but christianforums.com has a Catholic section, “One Bread, One Body”. I haven’t visited it for quite awhile but even the “General Theology” forum, which is for all Christians, can be good and educative even while challenging. It’s amazing how many differing opinions exist out there, especially when under the influence of the doctrine of Sola Scriptura.

Just a thought:
There’s that new social platform that’s growing rapidly called MeWe. It’s similar to Facebook but doesn’t censor Conservatives and is strong on protecting your privacy. I found a good Catholic Apologetics page on there. FYI.

Sorry to see the site go south. It’s been a while since I’ve found something to swoop in on though. Maybe I never adjusted to the new format? But it just seemed like the topics got pretty vanilla too. I don’t know. Maybe I just like to only chew on the tough meat or something.

Anyway I’ll probably sign up with 2 or more of the other sites. Already on Discord with a couple of my CAF pals. So could check that one out easy.

Hope not to lose total touch with the rest of those here that mean a lot to me. I check in often, but don’t have a lot to say these days.

There are no forums that are near substitutes for CAF in terms of the size or volume of posts. This is actually a good thing IMHO. I would encourage anyone looking for serious Catholic fellowship and discussion to give Res Publica Christiana or “The Republic” a look. It leans conservative/traditional, but it is very Christ-centered, and we value being faithful to Christ and His Church above all else.

I’m not spending much time on CCS. For one thing, you’d never know it from my prolix ramblings, but I have a lot of other things going on in my life — full-time caregiver for my parents, all the shopping, errands, cooking, housekeeping, and so on, falls solely on me, and I have to educate my son while I’m at it. Yesterday my father’s car (which I am driving until I can repair the rear-view mirror on my own) had an overheating situation and I had to address that pronto, not a moment to waste. (I always tell my son, when you begin driving, always be aware of the fluids in your car.) I have pretty much migrated my efforts to the new forum that @Tis_Bearself created, and that’s about it.

Sometimes I find myself as busy as I was back in my career days, but unlike then, I don’t have my soul sucked out of my body on a daily basis. I have told my son, never to get himself in a line or work that will do that kind of damage to him. I went for almost two decades that I hardly ever saw a moment’s peace — everybody wanted a piece of me, and finally there wasn’t enough of “me” to go around, it was at that point that I said “it’s time” — and the longer it went on, the worse it got. Now I sleep well and I eat well (the latter, really too well!).

People should find careers that are labors of love for them — I didn’t, for reasons too complicated to go into here, I went into business, even forced myself to get an MBA, when my true talents lay in academics (or possibly a practical application of those academics, such as geography, cartography, or journalism). I will just say, though, that the academic establishment in those days was as liberal/leftist and “politically correct” as it is today, only the focus of all hatred then was Reagan instead of Trump, so a conservative, traditionalist academic would have had a hard row to hoe then, too. The change agents have been hard at work for decades now, and they never give up. (We could learn a lesson from them in this regard.) Saul Alinsky taught his children well.
