In a sense he did.

He began to love himself more than he loved her. We see this fall by the evidence first of the feelings of shame they felt and realizing that they were naked.

This shows that they no longer saw rightly when they gazed on eachother. They saw the mystery of God in their very bodies…after the fall they knew the didn’t see eachother rightly and felt shame and used.

He cheated on her by loving his life more than hers.

And Adam didn’t have to deal with nagging until Eve came along 😛:rotfl:

My wife and I compliment one another. Where I am weak she is strong and the same with her. I had a passed a stone once and thought the world was ending. Women are way more stronger when it comes to pain lol.
Now you know what giving birth is like.😉

yes granny…

but even though God is love…and is love before and after the fall.

It was** their perception.** They were posed with if God is love or is he not by the devil in the garden.

Bingo!

Adam was the snake in the grass after all.

You guys do realize what you are saying is utter nonsense lol? It wasn’t Adam’s job to respond for Eve. In fact, God probably saw the whole thing happening but did not stop it. I think in many ways Adam saw the whole thing happened but wanted to see how Eve would respond. The curse didn’t set in until BOTH ate the fruit. Neither is more responsible than the other and their sin is equivalent. It was easier to convince Eve though because her nature makes her more vulnerable.

If you notice how women these days think abortion and birth control give them power it is not hard to see what Eve sought was power for herself. Men say a lot about those issues but those of us in the US know where that got us in the HHS mandate debate. Instead of running to her husband to protect her (as we should to God) and showing him she was vulnerable, Eve decided she could handle herself. Sounds very familiar to many women these days! They think every man is just out to get them and they can handle themselves. If a guy try’s to protect a woman she just calls him controlling. So yeah we gave up lol

My wife is so to blame for all the bad things I do…lol

That is not what I said. You are to blame for the bad you do and your wife is to blame for the bad she does. It is not your job to live for her and neither her for you. Yes, you could help each other but if your wife does not submit to your authority then you can’t help her. Likewise if you don’t make yourself vulnerable to her she can’t help you.

Just when you think a door opens lol

Just keeping it fun as the OP wanted 😉

That’s not what the church teaches silentfactor.

It was Adams job to garden the garden. And he stood in utter silence while this dragon-creature took aim at his wife.

We see what should have happened when we look at Christ…known as “the new adam” who gave His life for His bride the church.

The church calls it “Adams sin”.

“Oh happy fault of ADAM, which bought for us so great a reedemer”.

Guess what, God stood in silence too!! Adam was just mimicking his Father. God didn’t come thundering in to ward off the devil either. I think you misunderstand the Church’s teaching.

Christ gave his life but the Church has to give something in return. It is called respect and faith. Eve showed neither to Adam. Here is what should have happened:

Eve: Adam I feel really vulnerable and tempted to sin against God!! Help me I believe in you to protect us.
Adam: Here I come honey…::smashes serpents head on a rock::

I would also like to point out the hypocrisy of this thread. If the implication is that women aren’t in some way weaker then why would Eve need a protector (Adam)? Yes, Adam failed to do something (listen to God) but to imply that whole incident was his fault for not protecting Eve sounds like the blame game all over again to me.

Adam’s job may have been to garden the garden, but that job has absolutely nothing to do with the real reality of Original Sin.

Because Adam was made in the image of God, Who is a transcendent Pure Spirit, Adam could not only communicate with God but he was also in perfect friendship with God. The reason a creature such as a human person could answer God’s invitation to share in His life is that human nature uniquely unites both the material world and the spiritual world into one single nature, ours. Our nature is an unification of a decomposing anatomy and an immortal soul.

In order to remain in God’s friendship, Adam, the creature, had to live in free submission to his Creator. He had to be obedient to God’s commands. God’s command not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil evokes the insurmountable limit that no matter what, a creature cannot be equal to the Creator. Notice the actual temptation in
Genesis 3: 4-5

Adam, letting his trust in God die in his heart, shattered his relationship with God by freely choosing himself over and against God, against the requirements of his creaturely status (living in free submission to his Creator) and therefore against his own good. Seduced by Satan, Adam wanted to be like God but not in accordance with God. Adam chose the avenue of disobeying God in regard to the tempting fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

As St. Paul tells us (Romans 5: 12-21) “For just as through the disobedience of one person [Adam] the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one [Jesus Christ, True God and True Man] the many will be made righteous.”

Note: The above is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition, paragraphs 355-421.

Touche’ my friend! :curtsey:

um granny…wha what are you saying. The only thing I can infer from your last post is if you believe what the catechism is saying than you DO accept what I mentioned about Adams job.

As you (the catechism said) : " Adam, the creature, had to live in free submission to his Creator. He had to be obedient to God’s commands"

The creator gave a job to Adam (guard the garden), He gave them BOTH a command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

You have proven with your own words that Adam had more of a responsibility!!! oooo

That’s why the church calls it: O HAPPY FAULT OF ADAM!!!

If you believe…as the church does…that Adam and Eve were in a true marriage (it’s what we base all valid marriages on) than you can compare their relationship with that of every married couples relationship …as paul says in Ephesians (a passage read at weddings today):

22Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.r 23For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.s 24As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for hert 26to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,u 27that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.v 28So [also] husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church, 30because we are members of his body.w

31“For this reason a man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother

and be joined to his wife,

and the two shall become one flesh.”x

32This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the church.y 33In any case, each one of you should love his wife as himself, and the wife should respect her husband.

Here we see the husbands job: to love his wife to the point of giving his life over for her as Christ does the church.

AMEN! The Crown of Creation!
Eh, not really the whole story.

"He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “man.” Genesis 5:2

God is both masculine and feminine and the Church teaches both existed in Christ simultaneously as they do in each of us. Our human thinking often skews our thinking of anything not physical. In terms of the human person we are equal in value.

I would caution you though. Even though God created bugs before humans, human beings could not live without them. If you removed bugs from the food chain (or even those lowly plants) we would all die. For such a great creation human being are quite dependent on those “lesser beings.” If you removed human beings from the planet life would go on just as well if not better (probably better) without us. I tend to think of things as a whole because it is the only way to accept your piece of humble pie!

Silent factor…my last couple posts were directed to you as well…

To piggyback on them. What I said is what the church teaches…if you have a problem with it , than you have issue with the church.

We watch the scenario in genesis…it’s already been done.

In your post, you present another scenario,…a scenario of your own making. Adam was not mimicking God…He was disobeying what He was supposed to do and what Adam was supposed to do …had nothing to do with what Eve chose.

There were a few commands given in genesis: they were not to eat of the fruit of that tree and they were to be fertile and multiply!

The only other command was given to Adam…to guard the garden. This was a command to Adam and not to Eve.

And Eve was supposed to help him as his helpmate! The Church teaches that too. Man had the primary responsibility but Eve was to share in that! You are misusing Church teaching to advocate a radical viewpoint.
