I don’t know what sort of flower this is. Maybe one of the knowledgeable CAF members can identify it? They bloom every year in the spring from bulbs, I suppose, that were planted outside the fence at my mom’s house long before I can remember. Their vibrant colors always make me happy.

Yes, they do. Thank you! I wonder if my dad planted them? My mom never gardened, and she left the landscaping to my dad (except to offer direction - she never got her hands dirty, though). I see that Spraxia bulbs can be viable for decades, so maybe it was the former owner of the house who planted them (my parents bought it in 1955).

All around my condominium complex and neighborhood are bottlebrush trees, an import from Australia. The hummingbirds love them.

Your climate must be quite good for some bulbs 🙂
There were Spraxias here also when we moved in years ago…along with daffodils and jonquils ,all surviving drought no problemo.
Agapanthus and Belladonna’s are very tough also, almost every old site where there was once a farm house long ago have these plants growing, reminding us of the past.

I am out of likes.

Very cute 😃
This plant is gearing up to flower soon,I can see many purple little buds appearing. Its very tough and grows along a fence in my garden, but I see it in scrubland as well, growing wild up trees and over dirt banks.

Is that it’s name ?🙂 I’ve had it in my garden for some years and didn’t know. Thanks Rob!
When I first moved here, my children and I had permission to go and dig up plants and bulbs from old gardens where there would have been a house once in this country area.We also collected stones from paddocks to make garden borders.
