These are the blooms of the saguaro cactus. We had an impressive year this year (not my photograph)

For sentimental reasons, snapdragons. Remember playing with them in my mom’s backyard garden in the 50’s when I was a kid. Those were great times, so innocent.

How does this differ from the Scottish thistle?
@Sarcelle , all thistles are broadly similar in appearance and artichoke thistle can be distinguished by its greyish foliage and stems and the broad, flat grey-green bracts surrounding the buds and flower clusters. Scottish thistle (Onopordum acanthium) has similar grey or silvery colouration, but the bracts surrounding its flower clusters are much narrower and more numerous and the leaves are not as deeply lobed…

I love most flowers that are purple or blue 🙂
Jacaranda Trees - Burke's Backyard
Have to ask Greenfields, given Australia is beset with killer dingos, Australian Brown snakes, Inland tai pans, coastal tai pans, tiger snakes, mulga snakes, blue ringed octopi, salt water crocodiles, great white sharks, sea snakes, and a whole host of killer insects and other crustaceans and fish, is this tree one of the only things in Australia that won’t kill you? Then again, in the picture, I don’t see anyone standing under them.😉🤔

Nasturtiums in bloom. Not only does this plant produce bright and beautiful flowers every part of the plant is edible. It is a magnet for bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. It also repels squash bugs and other nasty pests.

Black-Eyed Susans are one of my favorite flowers, and has many varieties. The photo is of the Goldsturm type which is a perennial. It is a tough as nails plant grows in most soil type and has a long bloom time too. Birds, butterflies, and bees really like them too.

There is something about black eyed Susans that make me so happy when I see them.

To me, they are the flower of summer.
