Zinnias are a great addition to any flower bed.

I was just thinking about Penstamons the other day ,
they are so hardy and great for my climate.
Weeding today near beautiful Camelias in pink and white blooms 🙂

My niece gave my mom one of those orchids they sell in the gift section of the grocery store. I transplanted it, and this is the fourth time it’s bloomed for us.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

How do you get them to bloom?

What kind of conditions do they like?

Not much. I think the heat and humidity must be right in my mom’s kitchen. It was root bound so I put it in a larger pot. It’s in a tall cylinder like a Clorox wipes container. I water it once a week by submerging it for a while in a larger container of water and letting it drain. It does the rest.

It’s take me awhile, but I’m realizing I do have some favourite flowers. We saw a few of these on our hike yesterday.

I can’t like that one Rob,looks like Australia and would be an invasive weed 😅
Another is Gorsebush which is very hard to eradicate .The yellow flowers smell nice but the thorns are pretty vicious when handling sheep that have picked it up in their wool, and rabbits love making burrows beneath the shrubby wild bushes.I did enjoy seeing them in England and Ireland though.

I could imagine that it is,perhaps in the more tropical areas. My parents have it growing on their garage and it has kept its leaves all Winter. Its not a self seeding variety though.
I loved the morning glory in USA where I stayed:) But I could see how it spread so quickly.

It depends on the variety of Morning Glory weather it is invasive or not. There is one type called bind weed, although beautiful spreads everywhere fast and choke off good plants. It is also perennial to boot.

Bougainvillea on John’s (Johnny Mathis’s) privacy wall. Pretty common here in Southern California. He has morning glories as well, in the back.
