I used to post on a message board with some posters who did that. I think that’s terrible. This is not an urban legend. The stuff used to be over the counter. Now it is Benedryl that is used, by some.

Possibly because the parents want and need to go to Mass and there is no child care available? Now, why in the world would a parent choose to take those to the church?
“Mother’s Helper” is the product you’re thinking of. It was for working mothers, letting the child sleep all day so she could go to work. OK, so it also turned the kid into a junkie . . . one of the products that led to the creation fo the FDA.You could try opiates. I believe they were widely used in the form of laudanum during the 19th century to keep children from being children.
Of course not, but Jesus did ask that we put the needs of others ahead of our own, be you the parent with the child, or the adult next to the parent with the child. And of course the whole abortion reference was simply a false dichotomy. It does not enter in any way into this issue.Do you think Jesus is more offended by the crying toddlers and the energetic tykes at Mass,
You were probably somewhere in Oregon sitting behind us. We use toy cars - with great success, I might add - to keep our little ones quiet and occupied so that grown-ups like you can do what you’re supposed to do - focus on the Mass and Eucharist. You’re welcome.I want to say, I never understood why parents bring toys to Mass other than a stuffed animal or book. It’s not part of play time wherever you are sitting. I once spent some time at a mass distracted by small cars being driven over the pew in front of me by two young boys. I eventually was able to move. Now, why in the world would a parent choose to take those to the church?
