If you really follow his example then you should have been baptized in the river Jordan by your cousin when you were in your 30s. That’s all I’m saying. 🤷

Catholics believe that God’s salvation is a free gift, and one cannot do anything to “earn” this gift–and this is demonstrated quite clearly in the practice of infant baptisms. For how much more free is it than to an infant, who has done nothing at all to “earn” this gift of God’s grace! 👍
you know, I have been chided for being a flip etc. but I do believe you are the grand champian…I know that you do not take all that I say literally but you love to twist and mock. I did not say I walked the exact footsteps that Christ walked, by following His example, any more that the example you set for your children ( if you have any) by doing what is right. If you smoke they may smoke…following your example, however they may smoke cools and you may smoke winstons…yet you are both smoking If you don’t like this example I don’t care. You stop being a bad example yourself…You have been on here alot longer than most of the people, yet the example you set is terrible.

Wrong…yes it is a free gift, to be taken when one knows what the gift is and if they want it. And your right, you cannot earn it or be good enough for it…but then you find that in Romans 10: 9-10…

I am sorry that you feel that way, Leslie.

It sounds like you really think that all the comments people have made to you–both publicly on these forums, and, I presume from the moderators–are incorrect. You have stated here that you’ve been chided for being flip, yet it seems like you have no understanding whatsover about your fault in this.

Do you really not think that any of those admonishments were warranted, Leslie? Do you really think that you’ve spoken all your posts in the way that Jesus wants you to speak?

I will say that you do seem to have a “new and improved” tone to your posts lately, which is much welcome! 👍

I have never called anyone a moron. What about you–can you say that?

Regardless, I think that you take great offense to my posts–which have been nothing but straightforward and polite to you–because you realize the Truth they speak.

You were not well catechized. You did not know the Catholic faith. You did not know what the Immaculate Conception was. You did not know that Scripture is in almost every single prayer we pray at Mass. (In fact, more Scripture is read at a Catholic liturgy than most Protestant worship services, which focus mainly on the pastor’s sermons.) You do not know any reasons why the Eucharist is the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord.

And, you believe lots of things about Christ that are not in Scripture.

Now, if you think telling you this means I’m “mocking” you then I believe you’re using that as a cover to hide your fear that you may have left Christ’s True Church after reading the truth here that you were never taught.

And your right, you cannot earn it or be good enough for it…but then you find that in Romans 10: 9-10…
Amen!

But don’t forget about these verses, too!

Hi, Lielie,

Maybe we just need a ‘time out’ to get our bearings where each of us is coming from…🙂
I have answered the same questions soooooooooooooooooooooo many times now I have desided that the shorter the better beacuse the people or person that I am responding to realy does not want to hear what I have to say…I give scriptures, verses, etc. from the Bible and it still gets misconstrude or totally taken out of contex…belive me I really have tried. When I give a short answer it is because I have given the same answer over and over and it does no good to explain it seem…so now I just give a quick word of two if I have given a lengthy responce before. Sorry you have just gotten the short ones…

No I haven’t always spoken as Christ would have…and niether have you…you are condisending, sarcastic, and mocking a good deal of the time with me. I will take a rebuke when earned, and have, however when Christ was aproached by the Pharisee’s, who’s only interest was to see if they could catch Him in a lie, blasphemy, or make a fool out of Him. He was not a passive little mouse but stood up for the Word of God and did not appologize for it. When I give you chapter and verse out of the Bible, you come back with an…huh, or,now Leslie…or a tongue in cheek remark, after I have answered your question, with the Bible, which you seem to belittle a good bit of the time, yes I will respond the same way. For instanse you made a comment after I said all have sinned and fall short of the Glory o God, and made it very clear that Jesus was the exception…You came back with, oh so now Jesus is a sinner or word to that effect, when it was VERY clear that I did not say or imply that. Check it out I am sure its still one one of these posts someplace…You don’t even give a person the respect of reading what was said and give an honest responce…just tripe. I can hardly wait to see all of the things that miss read about this. Perfect example of your sarcasum read 513 First take the log out of your eye before you take the speck from mine.

Amen!

But don’t forget about these verses, too!

Yes you got very good verses…do you know the meaning of them…?

Leslie,

You appear to be not only bitter, but tragic. This poster just provided verses to you - and look how you responded. Shame.
Yes you got very good verses…do you know the meaning of them…?
I do not why you think you are some kind of bullied and abused member on this list. You criticize others of being condescending? insincere? demeaning? This post of your truly stands on its own merits as having all of those qualities.

Your rebukes and submersion in self-pity is not what this list is all about. Please get with the program and respond in charity. This is the call for all who follow Christ. And, while I am sure you do not feel you deserve this rebuke - recall, that neither did the Pharisees.

Get a firm girp on yourself and stop the complaining. Just answer questions as best you can and refraim for imputing motives onto others. God Himself waits until a person is dead before judging them - why do you think you can jump right in?

God bless

Since we have Christ’s Church to teach us what they mean, we are assured that yes, indeed, we do know what they mean. We are not subject to the flights of fancy embarked upon by modern day “scripture scholars” who have no idea, nor even the faintest idea how to find out, how the Apostles themselves interpreted these things, or how they practiced their faith. The Catholic Church keeps the traditions of the Apostles alive, from generation to generation, without any gaps. We don’t have to look at the Scriptures and try to figure out what it means - rather, we do what the Apostles taught us to do, and then we look at the Scriptures and see that they were writing about these very things that we already know how to do, from having been taught them already by the generation just ahead of ourselves. 🙂

Leslie, I really didn’t want to do this…but you keep bringing up how bad my posts are to you…

Nothing more needs to be said about who’s being condescending and mocking. Read that post and draw your own conclusions.

Hi, PRmerger,

You are really much more patient then I … while I did recall her ‘frothy’ post, I lacked the energy to go and hunt for it! Truly, Leslie is a discouraging individual 😦

Actually, when I saw your sigh, I just cracked up laughing… 😃 This really did brighten an other-wise discouraging trip through one of Leslie’s posts! Thanks for your post! 🙂

Hi, Jmcrae,

Thank you for your insight 👍

I checked to see if anyone responded to this.

Do you always know what your gifts are and if you want them before you receive them? My guess is no, you don’t and that those who give you your gifts do not make sure that you know and want them before you receive them. They simply give you the gift because they care about you.

who is saying that salvation is not a free gift… it is, however if you don’t accept the gift, then you miss the gift Action and reaction…Give and take. I really don’t know why I even answer you, you will just make some off the wall comment.

ok, before I answer this, what gifts are you talking about, and God gives us the gifts, no one else, no matter what they are…For instance are you talking about Salvation, or the gifts of the Spirit…I am sorry I am just not clear on what you want. I will be happy to tell you, just be a little more clear. Thanks.

Good. Then you should be able to understand infant baptism. The infant needs to do nothing at all to receive the free gift of God’s grace. 👍

A gift is something that is freely given.

Except for a few Catholic charismatics we are not Pentecostals, So we would probably see the gifts of the Spirit differently.

Leslie are you a United Pentecostal? Do you beleive in the orthodox Christian doctrine of the Trinity, and the Hypostatic Union?
