Yep, it was the chubby little girls like me who put thier noses in books and didn’t pay any attention to the guys - and didnt’ have that problem. LOL. There comes a point where you just give up! I think that is one of the reasons girls feel so bad about themselves, that they are constantly feeling like they have to compete with other girls. You should try to be the best you can be, but not just to win some shallow jerk! I wish I had realized back then that it didn’t matter. As the mother of daughters and sons I’ve given this problem quite alot of thought.
Many good points have been made concerning girls and their desire to please - they often don’t understand the image they are presenting.
But I also have a big problem with the male side of this issue also.
Girls have picked up a message they have received loud and clear from many males …
You are not worthy unless you are HOT!
Many women feel their worth is based on how attractive they are to men, and I think that is a big factor in the stye of dress we are seeing these days.
What your pappa always told you is true all along. “Guys who will want you for your looks alone are not worth having. A great guy will love you no matter your shape, color or size.”
I think the only way I might be put off by a man’s appearance is if a guy just didn’t care about himself enough to be hygenic and all. I married the neatest neat freak I could find …and I still have to peel his socks off the bathroom floor occasionally!
