Check this out:

earlychurch.com/LoveFeast.html

*“The rather amazing thing is that nearly all biblical and patristic scholars—catholic and Protestant, liberal and conservative alike—are agreed on this matter: that New Testament worship consisted of the love feast, followed by preaching and the Eucharist. Here are just a few samples:” *

We actually have a Japanese Church that meets at our Church and they have a meal with their Worship. Basically a good old fashion pitch-in.

"If the love feast was such an integral part of apostolic worship, why is it not still around today? The answer is that the apostolic pattern was eventually altered. Even though Jesus and His apostles handed down the model of having a common meal before the Eucharist, some churches began changing this after the apostles died. During the second and third centuries, the agape was eventually separated from the Eucharist. Churches began celebrating the Eucharist in the morning and hosting the love feast in the evening. "
Im all for more potlucks! those ladies:thumbsup: can cook!

Or you could simply listen to Christ…

Strive to love one another and also in Matthew ye shall find a way to life everlasting…

25:34 Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

35For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in:

36Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.

And if one does not strive do these things… 46And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.

Much simpler Christ’s way. Clear without an interpreter and without all the man made rules and rituals.

Ok let me see if I have this pope infallibility thing figured out. It doesnt mean, he wont sin or order others to sin, it doesnt mean he cant be evil or comand others to do evil, it doesnt mean he cant be wrong or teach others to be wrong. it doesnt mean he can be counted on to tell us about the true nature of God. What does it mean? that I should be Catholic and submit to his authority.
First of all, you should hope that infallabillity does exist in the Catholic Church, otherwise the very bible which you use could be full of error. The Protestant agruments on this topic undermine their very own existence. Protestants should be grateful that the Catholic Church, preserved the scriptures and traditions of the early Christians. They should be grateful that the Catholic Church preseved the fullness of the faith so that 1500 years later, Protestants (protestors) were able to pick and choose which parts of christianity, they wanted to follow. You see, all Protestant denominations, if they want to be honest with themselves, owe their very existence to the Catholic Church. Therefore, if the Holy Spirit was not guiding the Church and its leader for the first 1500 yrs, then the basis upon which your current denomination of christianity was founded , is invalid.

Is the pope human, yes. Is the pope a sinner ,yes. All humans are. When we claim that the pope is infallible, we are simply stating that throughout the history of the Catholic Church, the teachings, the scriptures, the tradititions, the truth that was revealed to the apostles, were kept in their purest form by the graces of the holy spirit. That through the holy spirit, the leaders of our church were unable to change or corrupt what Jesus had taught us. They have maintained volumes and volumes of christian writings and scholastic works dating back to the time of jesus and also back to the OT. It has been Catholic Scholars that have maintained those very scriptures and studied them for 2000 yrs. It has been those scholars and scribes that have hand writen the sacred scriptures and passed them down from generation to generation intact and uncorrupted, so that in the 1500’s when the printing press came into being, the word of God could be printed in volumes and distributed to the masses.

Unfortunately, with such technology comes corruption. It was easy now for the word to be corrupted. People decided they could rewrite the word of god as they saw fit. They could leave out books of the bible because it didnt suit theyre way of thinking. They could change certain words in order for a meaning to be changed. How many different versions of the bible exist today? Is the Holy spirit overseeing and protecting each of those versions? Are the leaders of each of the 30k different protestant denominations being lead by the Holy Spirit. Are those leaders infallible in their teaching?

We had better hope that there was infallablillity in keeping the word of god intact for the last 2000 yrs, or we are all living a lie.

Good for you and if someone else finds God waiting for them in another church, good for them. God is not limited to one place. God is all around us. Matt 18:20 For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matt,

you have Catholic under your name. but you are misrepresenting the Church’s teachings. what are saying here is not what the CC teaches. maybe you need to remove the name Catholic.

there are many. i will find.

here you can find many testemonies and debates.

Great link 🙂 A long long time ago I knew of this link, I’m glad you re-linked me. There are some amazing testimonies on there about some people who had the courage to do as Jesus said:
“Take up your cross and follow me”

I so admire them who didn’t let pride or fear get in their way.

It’s a matter of spiritual and sacramental authority. God is a God of truth, you cannot pick and choose which doctrines of apostolic Christianity (Catholicism) you want to use, and discard others (like apostolic succession and the sacramentality of Christianity).

Read the early Church writings. Study the Scriptures. Read the history of the Church and the Protestant sects. That’s what lead me out of Protestantism and into Christ’s Catholic Church. I found God waiting for me here.
Where does it say that you must believe in apostolic succession to be saved?

What Christians believe is necessary for salvation:

2 Timothy 3
15and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Romans 1
16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Romans 10
9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Ephesians 1
13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

1 Peter 1
8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

John 3
5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

John 3
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Mark 16
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

Matthew 10
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.”

John 14
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

2 Corinthians 7
10Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

2 John 1
9Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Well at least be thankful for the one Holy Apostolic church preserving the very words that you just posted.

It must be nice to be able condense all of the things that christ taught the apostles, into a one page document with a few select passages.

The bible says, if written down , the whole world could not contain all that jesus taught the apostles, therefore , there must be traditions and teachings that were handed down by the apostles to their successors that are not included in the bible.

Therefore, are we practicing the fullness of the faith by not following what the apostles handed down?

So, to answer your question, where does it say we must follow apostolic succesion. I guess I choose to follow all of the teachings, even those that were not written down in the bible because it says that they were not all written down.

The only way to follow all of the traditions and teachings that were given to the apostles is to follow a church that has apostolic succession and believe that what was handed down to the apostles was handed down to their successors and taught to us.

God Bless

I was looking at those verses you ‘quoted’ and I was trying to find the place the CC played in our salvation.

However, Jesus told us in John 16 the Holy Spirit would be responsible to teach and remind and Peter told us in 2 Peter 2 that it’s the Holy Spirit’s responsibility to inspire and interpret. Those who were used by the Holy Spirit to put the Bible together get as much credit as Paul said he deserved …

1Corinthians 3:
4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?
5 ¶ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

Catholics say, ’ I am of Peter and the apostolic succession thus I’m of the Catholic Church.’ Paul has something to say to you above, IMO.

We are NOTHING (including all our churches), but God (the Holy Spirit in context of my post) is EVERYTHING. God plus NOTHING is everything. Therefore it’s wonderful to be nothing in Christ.

While we’re examining the 1 Cor 3 verses, let’s look at verse ten a little more closely.

10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

If Paul laid the foundation, what did he lay? Was it Peter he laid? If the CC is correct the foundation (Rock) upon which the church was built was Peter then Paul laid Peter. If, as some of us here believe, the foundation (Rock) upon which Jesus built His church was Peter’s confession, then Paul’s foundation upon which other would build was the confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

In general, exemption or immunity from liability to error or failure; in particular in theological usage, the supernatural prerogative by which the Church of Christ is, by a special Divine assistance, preserved from liability to error in her definitive dogmatic teaching regarding matters of faith and morals

what is claimed for the pope is infallibility merely, not impeccability or inspiration (see above under I).

the infallibility claimed for the pope is the same in its nature, scope, and extent as that which the Church as a whole possesses; his ex cathedra teaching does not have to be ratified by the Church’s in order to be infallible.

infallibility is not attributed to every doctrinal act of the pope, but only to his ex cathedra teaching; and the conditions required for ex cathedra teaching are mentioned in the Vatican decree:

We theology looks like it was written by lawyers I begin to get a little suspicious.
forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=426455

Perhaps the above link to a thread on the Apologetics forum might help on what it means to be infallible. I specifically asked there about only in ex cathedra and as you can see one poster said Catholics who say that are confused. From my understanding the Church teaches infallibilty in faith and morals when proclaiming dogma or a defined doctrine. But I think the Church also says all teaching should be adhered to.

BTW, did you actually read those verses, think about them and then read my comments?
