 And “all who can be called Catholic” I thought was what Wisdomseeker was unclear about since he/she suggested I not call myself Catholic. 🤷 .

Well at least be thankful for the one Holy Apostolic church preserving the very words that you just posted.
I am.
It must be nice to be able condense all of the things that christ taught the apostles, into a one page document with a few select passages.
No just the things needed for salvation- it is so simple. No big mysteries- which in fact would be gnostic in nature.

Much of what Jesus taught to the Disciples was to prove that He was in fact the Son of GOD, the Messiah.

This is our “ammunition” to use against those that don’t believe.
The bible says, if written down , the whole world could not contain all that jesus taught the apostles, therefore , there must be traditions and teachings that were handed down by the apostles to their successors that are not included in the bible.
John 21
25Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Yes, but this verse points to miracles, what Jesus did not taught. I would think it only obvious that the most important things were in fact written down, preserved What is left out is duplication of what Jesus had already showed them- more miracles.
Therefore, are we practicing the fullness of the faith by not following what the apostles handed down?
Sure some tradtions were passed down by the Apostles. I just don’t believe that the traditions continues to grow and are to be added to.

As in 1870’s all of a sudden it is revealed that the Pope is infallible, or at such a late date Mary was assumed. Or that all of a sudden centuries later Mary is to be called the 'Mother of GOD"?
So, to answer your question, where does it say we must follow apostolic succesion. I guess I choose to follow all of the teachings, even those that were not written down in the bible because it says that they were not all written down.
The only way to follow all of the traditions and teachings that were given to the apostles is to follow a church that has apostolic succession and believe that what was handed down to the apostles was handed down to their successors and taught to us.
God Bless

Paul used “bishop” as equivalent to “elder” (Philippians 1:1, I Timothy 3:1-18, Titus 1:5-14). In Greek, the word translated “bishop” literally means “overseer” or “supervisor” and the word translated “deacon” means “servant”.

“Elect for yourselves” is in stark contrast to the doctrine that bishops must only be consecrated by bishops, and the doctrine of “apostolic succession”. The fact that it includes this democratic doctrine, later replaced by the hierarchy, was probably another reason why Athanasius excluded the Didache when he finalized the list of 27 New Testament books in AD 367.

It is actually the Holy Bible that is in fact the true successor of the Apostles, or rather those that hold it as TRUTH.

Dokimas:
what you think doesnt really matter. the facts do.

are you in this Church? does everybody call you a Catholic? they do me.

“Among the Greeks it was natural that while Catholic served as the distinctive description of the one Church, the etymological significance of the word was never quite lost sight of. Thus in the “Catechetical Discourses” of St. Cyril of Jerusalem (c. 347) he insists on the one hand (sect. 26): “And if ever thou art sojourning in any city, inquire not simply where the Lord’s house is–for the sects of the profane also attempt to call their own dens, houses of the Lord–nor merely where the church is, but where is the Catholic Church. For this is the peculiar name of the holy body the mother of us all.” On the other hand when discussing the word Catholic, which already appears in his form of the baptismal creed, St. Cyril remarks: (sect. 23) “Now it [the Church] is called Catholic because it is throughout the world, from one end of the earth to the other.” But we shall have occasion to quote this passage more at length later on.”

May I suggest there’s a far more important question to ask me and that is, ‘Do you have any understanding of these Passages without the Holy Spirit Jesus sent to us?’ My answer to this question is a resounding NO, or no way Jose.

BTW, did you actually read those verses, think about them and then read my comments?
not only you tell what questions to ask you, you also say something that is not written in the Bible. where does it say that God gives the HS to each invidual to enterpret Scriptures without the Church?

You sure do a lot of talk but when asked to back it up, you ignore. where are the answers to my questions?

 Wisdom, was this directed at me?

I don’t really care what you think either. I know the Church teaches I am. But no everyone on CAF apparently doesn’t because everyone apparently doesn’t know. 🤷

They call me Christian.

no.

i dont care if you agree with me or not. that is not the point. you dont agree with anything taht the Church teaches. you are misrepresenting the Church by using the name Catholic if you are not a Catholic.
 Wisdom, you probably shouldn’t make such blanket statements about what I don’t agree on. And I wouldn’t use the name if I were not considered so by the church. What you consider me is unimportant to me.

They call me Christian.
no. not true. you call yourselves christians. it all begin when they came to this country and they themselves gave themselves this name. sorry. perhaps you should do some study in the history of Chrisitianity.

“Christian” is simply one who follows Jesus. An Atheist can be a “Christian” if he or she follows the philosophical teachings of Jesus.

The bible doesn’t “say” anything, it is an inanimate object. It must have an infallible interpreter or it is just a waste of trees.

Protestants and their conspiracy theories…will the madness ever end?

Sorry you should do a little studying yourself. I know what I am a believer in Jesus.

 Actually it all began much earlier. Acts 11:26 And they conversed there in the church a whole year; and they taught a great multitude, so that at Antioch the disciples were first named Christians.

I am a Christian and I am not mad.

Acts 11:26

Where do you see the anger. Is it because I disagree with you. I’m not a angry person but at times like all of us can be I can be a angry person and there is nothing wrong with it, even God and Jesus got angry.

You asked me several questions and I answered all of them but you only responded to one of my answers which was about Christ being the church.
Sorry I just got back on. Let me by all means address them now. Starting with the CC. How can you say that by changing or refering aka the Christian Church to the Catholic CHurch now changed it. What changed? Show me a teaching that He did that was in direct conflict with what Peter did?
