- Christ is the CC, you said, and His bride. So … Christ is married to Himself???
This is an excellent question, and reflects the prrevailing Protestant deficient view of the Church. Let us examine the Eph. 5 on this point.
[21] Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.
[22] Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord.
[23] For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
[24] As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.
[25] Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
[26] that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
[27] that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
[28] Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
[29] For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,
[30] because we are members of his body.
[31] “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
[32] This mystery is a profound one, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church;
In Apostolic Teaching, the husband and wife are joined into one body. Paul uses this analagy to describe the relationship of Christ to His One Body, the Church. The Apostle points out that Christ loves the Church as His own Body, and nourishes and cherishes it. This is one of the great mysteries of the christian faith.
To believe in the Real Jesus is to have the real Truth; I agree, for what-ever that’s worth. However, let me add, that doesn’t mean we understand perfectly the Whole Truth. According to Paul, that won’t happen (total understanding) until Heaven. We must be satisfied with knowing in part.
This is one of those aspects of our salvation that is not completed in this life.
Isn’t ‘forced’ authority a problem with you? / quote]
Yes.
You are a subject of the Successor of Peter whether you know it, accept it, or not. God gave him the responsibility to feed and care for the sheep. That means all the sheep, including those who refuse to recognize his authority.
Dokimas;6372076:
Do I submit to His authority completely. To my shame NO. Does He force Himself on me? … Again, NO.
The HS is drawing all into unity, and those who are led by the Spirit will be wooed into communion with the authority He appointed.
