Where do the the Obama critics go? Where we have always been-pointing out that he is the most inept ,unqualified president in at least the last 50 years. Point out the great damages done to the country with his fiscal irresponsibility and incoherent apologize and appease foreign-policy. Continue to point out that one of the first things he did when he took office was make sure US funds could be used to pay for killing children overseas and that he has the most pro-abortion administration in history.

That is where the serious, non-fringe people that oppose Obama’s policies go, no question. And there are plenty of them. My question is where do the pretty large group of fringe right-wingers go? Do they sit down and let more serious conservatives turn the talk to real issues, or do they find another crazy conspiracy to promote?

This is just not true. The controversy started with a series of anonymous chain emails. It is widely speculated that they originated in Hillary Clinton’s campaign. However, there is no definitive proof that this is the case. Hillary’s camp was keen to let the issue simmer to a boil as they were trailing badly. They made comments that I characterize as half-birther. “Well, I assume he’s a US citizen but I’m not sure”. The Obama campaign very soon after released the Certificate that has generated so much energy among the Birther crowd.

Funny that Hillary’s name comes up. Was Obama’s birth certificate in the same box as the Rose Hill Law firm records?

Like you said, no other President has had to do this, and if anything, it has shown a flaw in the system. They should have. Each and everyone of them. If we have requirements for the Presidency (you have to be 45, US citizen, etc etc) then those requirements should be proven to have been met.

I mean, I would think? Right? It’s not that ‘No other President has done it so Obama doesn’t have to’

The question was brought up to both candidates during the campaign. McCain produced his, Obama did not, thus causing the question to linger through his presidency.

When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.

Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the **Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception **to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.

Hawaii made an exception, because people complained? I believe the person about whom the record is concerned can obtain the full record.

I have not had experience with Hawaii, but I have had experience with California, Florida, Virginia and Warsaw, Poland public records (birth, death, marriage) and the rule seems to be that the individual can usually get their own record.

My question is: why could this have not been done two years ago. Yes, there will be fringe types that will question its authenticity. But it would have been a whole lot more Statesmanlike and a whole lot less political had he done this when it was first an issue.

True. What I meant was that the has been a lot of flapping on the fringe right about getting away from the academics and going with more regular folks. That seems at odds with caring what one’s grades were in college.

No there hasn’t. We just dont believe that every lawyer waving his ivy leauge academic pedigree in air and claiming to be looking out for the little guy is qualified to be President.

Why ban it? There has to be an explanation to offer the disappointed when, in the absence of serious opposition, the president gains a second term. This issue will help get Obama re-elected AND give his detractors a reason to blame him for his opponents’ failure to unseat him. As perfect a circular argument as ever there was. Gotta love it.

According to Hawaii Revised Statutes, Paragraph 38-13(a) specifies that the agency** "shall,** upon request, furnish an applicant a certified copy of any certificate, or the contents of any certificate, or any part thereof." Further, subparagraph C allows that copies of birth certificates “may be made by photograph, dry copy reproduction, typing, computer printout or other process approved by the director of health.”

Your comment says far more about you than it does me. I’m all for people expressing themselves and holding whatever opinions they may desire. This does not insulate them from ridicule. We’ll it will take a bit for it to be studied like Bush’s NG papers…But even then you will have a fringe…I just want to see the transparency…When your in public office your lif becomes an open book…People don’t like things that are hidden/sealed, it opens the door to conspiracy.
